Dude I bought my 2017 for 32.5K. No way is that a good price. Great truck. Bad price. Talk them down or go elsewhere.

Others have paid the same price range as me also. Plus you could get an 18 for that price range. Don’t do it. Keep looking.

Just FYI the dealer won’t give you extra if anything for mods on sale or trade in, so why pay a dealer for a truck with them?

To add... the early rust and those mods most likely means it’s been a rough 20k early miles....

He's in Hawaii. As I understand used Tacoma's are very expensive there. You might get better responses in the Hawaii specific forum.

Dealer tool, note the VIN on the doc. This is what I send in to the credit unions which dictates what they will loan on the vehicle.

You can get on NADA .com and pull this info as well, it just wont have the VIN attached.

I paid $34,100 for my 2018 off road before trade in and before TTL. $38k for last year's model with 20K miles is an insult.

I dont want to jack OP's thread so if anyone wants a true value on a used Tacoma you can PM me and I will hook you up.
OP, 33500 is fair on that truck if it doesnt have any accidents on it.

I agree with the idea you're too close in price to a brand new one to justify buying used (which is almost always the case when it comes with vehicles with extremely high resale value such as the Tacoma and 4Runner).

But also want to point out I think other members on here are completely missing the fact you live on an ISLAND lol.

If they think $38k is on a tricked out Tacoma is insulting wait til they see what a box of lucky charms costs over there

So when it comes to use car prices in Honolulu you honestly shouldn't be asking a bunch of haole mainlanders :D

I'm out on the west side of Oahu, HI and my neighbor just bought a used '16 DCSB OR w/tech with 26k miles, a 2" coilover lift of some sort, 265/70/17s for 39,500. Island prices man.

Ouch. The NADA I pulled was for Hawaii. Guess that only means something if they are trying to sell to mainlanders.

    Umm...

See my other thread (SR vs OR - Decision time!)

I just bought a brand new 2018 OR DCSB + Tech package, all weather mats, door sills, and mudguards. SRP was 38.4k. I haggled the dealer all the way down to 32.9k (after memorial day $500 manufacturer rebate).

Keep negotiating with the dealers and get a better deal. 38k for a used truck is bullshit.

I missed the part about being located in HI .. that changes the perspective a bit.

The biggest thing is that it is.... used. If it were new it still wouldn’t be a great deal even if you guys have crazy mark ups in HI. Maybe try and buy 3rd party if the dealer isn’t willing to work with you. You will be much happier with a better price.

Thank you all for the help. I guess I’ll keep looking. The dealer wouldn’t negotiate and is kind of cocky.
