IDK about your area, but most auto parts stores will take it for free.

Even with free oil disposal, I am not convinced of a cost savings with DIY oil change.

    https://www.groupon.com/deals/valvoline-instant-oil-change-62

Groupon doesn't upgrade the quality of the shop. It's still a quack lube franchise.

It's like buying diamonds that are marked up 100% at a 50% off sale.

Enough room to crawl under and get out of the sun. Yesterday was cool, but under the truck was nice enough I could've took a nap.

cheapest oil change in my area is around $25-30. Prob at jerk lube or w/e. I would gladly pay more $40-60 for synth tho.

In fact, last time I checked, it was around $50 ish at the local Toy dealer for synth, if I remember correctly.

I should clarify that I will be using full synthetic at that price.

According to the groupon the cost is $51 for full synthetic, the details state 'up to 5 quarts'. I think it takes ~6 quarts for a Tacoma oil change so it would be reasonable that they would add an extra charge for 1 quart. From what you stated it sounds like they want to charge you >$50 for that extra quart of oil.

Unlike our poor bros in the north :canada: who can’t post negative web reviews without risk of being sued (sorry guys), I’m in the US where we’re protected by the 1st A to do it, sooo... based on my last and final experience at one of those places getting an oil change in a jiffy with my 1st gen Tacoma, I will never go back to a generic vehicle oil change service again. The place I went to left my skid plate hanging by 2 barely tightened bolts because they couldn’t reattach it due to their oil filter wrench I found wedged between the plate and the oil pan when I got home. They didn’t even bother to tell me about it and the only way I noticed was for the banging noises I heard when I went up my driveway. I was so mad I felt like throwing their wrench through their front window because it could have been really bad for other cars if it fell off on the freeway. Never :censored: again. If I am going to have someone change oil for me, it has to be a Toyota service or one that knows Tacomas and doesnt just do every make and model in the automotive alphabet.

One of those places forgot to put the drain plug back in when my mom went to one, she came to pick me up from swim practice and the light came on. I checked the oil and there was none in it lol.

Edit: this was probably 13 years ago, never been to one since.

Did they “give” your mom a new engine, or did they just offer another free oil change like they did for me? :annoyed:

They paid for the tow and did the rest of the job correctly. Engine was fine surprisingly, it was a fairly short drive, and despite the fact that it was a 2.5L Subaru legacy outback it went another 80k miles with no issues until it was replaced.
