So, I do have OCD and I just bought a rav4 for the wife and the car is 2 weeks old and the plastic door sill and lower parts of the door panels are starting to get scratched... I constantly tell her no to hit the door with her shoes and she tries not to but eventually she does.. so.. I want to protect the inside plastic door sill and the doors..

I bought contact paper but it won’t stick to plastic..

I’m sure some of you have done this... some advice is appreciated...

    Thanks...

It's the bottom of the inside of the door. And you're asking a big group of people who drive trucks about how you can keep it in pristine condition. :bananadead:

Let it go, man. You can't keep everything covered in plastic and protected. It's a damn vehicle. Use it and love it.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
it won't stick, but I guarantee Prozac or Paxil will help.

I was the same as you once upon a time then later realized what’s the point when I plan on keeping this truck for a long time. Now I just wash and vacuum once or twice a month.

Hilarious, sad, and understanding. Lend the rav to your teenaged son and his friends for the weekend. Then you won’t even notice minor scapes on the door panel and your wife will likely make you dinner.

I just got one of these for a knee rest. You could try putting something like this on the bottom where her feet keep hitting and have her hit this instead... :fingerscrossed:

Door sill protectors aren’t enough? That’s what they’re there for...

The only other option is park the vehicle and don’t use it at all, ever, just look at it. Or take no passengers. Because if you plan on owning this for a while this is going to be the least of your concerns. I pray for you that you get nondoor dings. I used to be this way, but then I don’t end up enjoying my stuff, rather being uptight and anal and appearing as overly OCD. I just learned to accept it as a normal part of life and ownership. But it’s your wife so depending on how easy going she is or not, can’t get rid of her or tell her not to ride, so to me, it’s worth not having the “I’m so OCD” argument and save my battles for issues that need attention. Just my 2 cents. To each his own but good luck, I know your type because I’m like that, or was to an extent, but that would’ve meant shrink wrapping my whole truck inside and out and creating a rule sheet on how to enter and exit my vehicle, with privilege losses if violated..excessive lol.

The plastic is crap. The only thing you can do is put up a barrier for protection. But then, the challenge is finding one that will be aesthetically pleasing. Perhaps try a plastic varnish if it's that important to you. Just leave some time for the varnish to off-gas.
    Best of luck.

Yeah... I know guys... most of you are right... I should not care that much about little stuff like that because then I do not enjoy it... that being said, if someone read this and used a film ore something to extend the life of the bottom of the inside of the door please let me know...

The older trucks would have paint scratches that would rust from heels hitting it.

Now its all plastic, and its pretty much gonna get scratched by our midget wives.

Best solution I’ve found to keep shoe marks and other plastic scuffs to a minimum is occasionally cleaning-detailing with a good interior product and then finishing up with 303 Protectant.
