I've had my 2018 Tacoma just short of three weeks with zero time off-road and already have paint scuffs in several places. Seems like this paint comes off when the wind blows. Anyone else experience this? Also, any suggestions on a good touch up paint?

    :annoyed:

Dealer will give you a free bottle of touch up paint. This paint is no worse or better than the past 20 vehicles I've owned.

Oh there will be some mods all right
I make that joke among others about my truck too :D my sister was tapping her hand on the door to the beat of the music and I was like oh great, there goes the rest of my paint... Seriously though, I think every day I notice another blemish. Seems the jump from 2nd to 3rd gen didn't increase the paint quality

I've had my 2018 OR DCSB for almost 2 months now and have put 2200 miles on the ODO. Zero problems with the paint. Living in AZ though, I *am* waiting for my first windshield rock chip. Now that I mentioned it I'll probably get dinged on the way home. o_O

My paint has taken some pretty serious stone hits, and it’s perfect, I’ve been quite impressed with it compared to other vehicles I own.

YES. I was getting rock chips on my Quicksand and had clear bra installed by a company for 600ish. Drove all the way to Alaska from Miami and got 0 rock chips. My truck was hit by a dumpster about 8 months ago so I have to reapply it due to the passenger fender being replaced and bumper fixed.. I can't stress how great that stuff is!

My truck really needs a trip to the body shop, looks like someone ran a Lawnmower over gravel next to my drivers door.

Get some of that Dr. Colorchip. I love that stuff. Works great if you take your time.

I looked it up a while ago to do front bumpers, fenders, hood, etc - and it was something crazy like $1000

I had the factory 3m on the fenders and hood. I had the company do the whole bumper. I tried doing it myself to save money but its a nightmare. Money well spent to have the pros do it.

yeah, i regret not just having the factory do it, but i think at the time i heard that the factory stuff wasent as good as the aftermarket...and now the aftermarket stuff looks too expensive

Thin isn’t really a bad thing. It’s better to be thinner as the thicker it is the more likely it is to crack.

Really can’t be worse than my 370z... now that was some paper thin crap paint. Don’t buy Nissan if you car for your paint lol.

The amount of scuffs, chips and imperfections you notice is proportional to how much you care.
He Tacoma spends weeks, covered in caliche dust and when finally wash it off ..perfect. Pretty truck!
The 4Runner gets babied and garage kept all the time and I notice everything. It gets pinstriped on like the woods are mocking me for being careful.

I would try that stuff if the metal was not all dinged in too, for now just covered the bare metal with a bottle of Toyota paint.

It really is everyone. A guy I know was showing me his 17 F-150 the other day and his biggest complaint was how easily the paint scratches. We can send rockets to space but for some reason a durable paint eludes us.
