The person that hit us has Progressive insurance. Any concerns? My 9 year old son had to go to the ER to get his head glued. About a half inch gash. I Just want to be made whole again after this, and a repaired Tacoma after that much damage is not what I signed on for when I bought it.

That phrase will help you out throughout the entirety of the claim process. The key to insurance is that no party can benefit from a claim, as insurance's job is to indemnify or "make whole" again. So, when you start dealing with their adjusters make sure you get that point across. Be understanding, but firm with your requirements as it was their insured who caused this.

Sorry for your loss. Now you can buy a 2018. I'm told all the things you disliked about the 17 are fixed the 18. So, congratulations.

...^^^... Progressive can be difficult to deal with ... but ... if an injury is involved ... they tend to be more accommodating ... stick to your guns with them and watch what you say ... they can be excellent at twisting your words against you.

I am sorry your son got hurt. I would consult a lawyer in regards to this. Injury could cause long term psychological problem.... nightmares. Haven't heard anything bad regarding insurance/accidents/tacomas. They have all worked out for the most part. Good luck and again sorry about your son.:)

not sure the airbags would go off being hit from behind? there are no airbags in the bed..but at least 15k in damage..

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
If you are hit hard enough from behind, or hit from behind and then pushed forward into something, then they will go off in the cab.

The only airbags Ive ever seen in the bed were a couple of idiots standing while riding back there once on the freeway.

Truck is totaled. Get a lawyer immediately, don’t speak a word to their insurance company. Let the lawyer do all that. Really sorry to hear your son got hurt, I hope he recovers quickly.

Definitely sucks to hear about your son, I’d be more concerned about him getting hurt than the truck. Honestly they have bigger problems than replacing your truck. That scar can fetch more than it would cost to replace that Tacoma

I would say you likely have some frame damage, and it should be totaled. But I had a 2009 Mustang that I wrapped head on/side swipe into some trees at about 60 mph in a snow storm. Frame damage, driver side door was peeled back from the front edges, hinges were peeled. It absolutely should have been totaled. I only owed ~$18,500 on it. Insurance company spent over $16,000 to fix it rather than totaling it. Total loss in value when it came time to trade.
