Found my output shaft nut is very loose on the single cab. Stake is still in but it spins. a bit still. Time to order parts.

Are you supposed to throw a code when you leave the gas cap off?

I did it once this winter and never got it...

yup...loose caps or aftermarket caps that don't fit right are common causes for it. You sure your bulb for the CEL works?

If you only drove like that for a short while then maybe that's why, I think the truck has to complete an emissions cycle to trip that code but I might be wrong.

    Color me surprised.
Got all 3 stainless steel braided lines installed, HUGE difference in stopping power, but I changed out the brake fluid that had 200,000 on it so it’s probably the combination of both.

nah makes a big difference going to steel lines. They don't flex as much.

Alright, you just bumped this up to my to-do list with that post. I see you got new coils and shocks too? What are you running?

    None yet
So I bought all the stuff to do my valve cover gaskets , plugs & wires and oil & filter today, came home from work and started to tear apart my truck . ( I hadnt really looked at the leak other than degreasing and washing in preparation to do the job . )
Anyway as I start looking I notice that the valve cover rubber washers look new , so do the plug wires . So I grab a socket to pull a bolt out to look at the rubber seal better and the bolts are all loose . No wonder the thing had an oil leak ,,,,, I called the guy I bought it from and he confirmed , new plugs , wires , timing belt , gaskets ect about 15000 miles ago and its had an oil leak ever since . I tightened all the bolts and am going to go wash it one more time and reinspect for oil . I am pretty sure I fixed the issue hahahhahahahaha .
Now I can return these parts and spend that cash on mods instead of repairs !

How long did you let it run??
Same thing happened to me after i did plugs, wires, boots, PCV valve, IAC Valve. I let it idle for 5 minutes and my idle settled.

For a good 5 minutes then went for a drive to pick up new shocks. Runs fine just won’t idle in park and the CEL is on.

High idle is normal after taking apart and cleaning the TB . Mine idled at 1200 for a day or 2 before going to normal.

What's the CEL code? I'm betting its a P0171 or similar...probably something not reconnected properly or loose creating a big vacuum leak.
