My rats nest coming off the battery is pretty bad. I got reminded today wiring up my OBW. Needed to get it installed before my bedslide which will go in either one night this week or saturday morning before it gets to hot.

Long story short I am planning to use either a rtmr or blue sea block in combination with a switch pro/spod or something similar.
Sounds like for what I am wanted to do will probably need to go with the rtmr.

Cant complain about most of the weekend. Saturday I got my bedslide installed early, I was done by 830a. Yesterday took the dog to the dog park and met up with the DFW TW group. After I got home I had a massive headache and tried to eat dinner, 2 bites in I felt sick and ended up laying down and napping for the rest of the night. The headache didnt fully go away which napping/sleeping usually fixes. I still feel a little crappy today so I called off and am just laying around but I can at least eat some with out feeling sick. I think it may be withdrawal from camping. Its been a month.

How was your and @trekker's weekend?

busy busy - doing stuff around the house in preparation for my family visiting this weekend. I can't wait for them to get here!! I haven't seen my nephew in almost 2 years - and haven't seen the rest of them since Sept of last year.

I had a pretty damn great weekend...

We need to go to Hot Springs now... cause I think it would be way more fun than Hidden Falls....

It is definitely not cooler right now... I will be waiting until after September to go back.

They have an event there called the Southern Cruiser Crawl that is apparently pretty nice October 11-14th, so if I don't get to Moab this year, I will make the 4 hour trek back to Hot Springs for that for sure. Or after that, who knows. But I will be back.

@trekker what size is your fridge? I'm planning my next purchase and wondering what the sweet spot is for not giving away all the space but having plenty of cold beer

Pretty sure the same size as mine which is the TB51?

I know that mine will fit 60, 12oz cans into it without any issues.

How's yours deal with a weeks worth of food and beverage? I have the soft side so that's where quick access stuff stays but would like to not have to deal with funky cooler water any more.

You really have to prep and plan out how you pack everything if you are wanting to do that much food and drinks all in the fridge. The most I have done in it was about 5 days or so and that did not leave much room for drinks except for stuff I would drink later in the trip. If you used it solely for food, you can get a weeks worth of food if you plan and pre-prep some stuff in it and it handles it really well.

To me what I do normally if there is a lot of food and drinks, I would use both the fridge and my RTIC hard cooler, and put stuff in the RTIC that I would not access except maybe twice a day and then the rest in the fridge and leave the fridge for drinks and snacks that you would need access to multiple times a day. That is kinda what I did when we went to TN, put stuff for dinner and breakfast in the RTIC in containers and ziplocs and left it iced down and closed as much as possible. Then put water, beer, snacks, and sandwich meat and stuff in the fridge for the trails. It worked out well and really only needed to add ice to the RTIC once and it was a small bag. The best thing is get some freezer ziplocs and some glad plastic containers and double seal everything so water doesn't get into them.

Mainly think of the fridge as the stuff you will want quick access to and the cooler that you will only access once or twice a day.

The fridge is still one of my favorite purchases out of everything I have done for the truck honestly. I still use my RTIC cooler every trip for waters a lot of the time and the fridge will still hold about a 30 pack of beer and enough food for breakfast and lunch for 3 days, plus some snacks and stuff.

Not to mention you can always easily add to the fridge way easier than trying to add stuff to and iced down cooler.

I don't know if it matters, or if you have a certain fridge manufacturer in mind, but I contacted dometic about their cfx models ability to cope with elements. they said I could bolt it to the flatbed..it would handle rain and water fine, just try to keep the display out of direct sunlight. They said it also fine to wash the cooler off with a hose if it gets muddy, just don't spray the stream directly into the outer vents.

Yep, that's the same one I've got. Love it

My experience is nearly the same. Although the last few weeks of my trip last summer I moved over to using just the fridge. Fuck a bunch of ice.

There is a guy with a ARB 50qt for sale. Is that the same one/same size as what y’all are using?

I like how @ETXTacoma has his behind the seat, that’s pretty just dedicate ice chest space right now, so making a platform and putting the fridge there sounds reasonable.

Yeah, similarly sized. Ours are 51 quarts. The back seat mount is awesome for grabbing goodies on the go.

Do you have yours hard mounted in the same way?

Does anyone make a “sideways” slide for it?

I’m envisioning putting it behind the driver with the opening facing the front of the truck, but that would make it difficult to access from outside? Or is it not an issue?

@ETXTacoma could your setup withstand being used as a dog platform? If I did a similar setup would it be unsafe to let Belle climb on it?

I keep mine on a slide in the bed since I usually have the cab full of other things. I want to build a platform like Steven has so I can switch it up if needed when I'm rolling solo.

As far as a sideways slide... sounds like a great idea, but I've never seen one. Wouldn't be too hard to make yourself if you put your mind to it.
