New England B.S. Thread

Yeah, I don't get it. I try, I really do, to do stuff with her, for her, etc... but nothing seems to get me in her good graces. My son used to be like that, understandably, for a while when he was a lot younger. After all, he was home with the wife while she was on maternity leave and then all summer since she's a teacher. Even after that, and after his first year and a half or so, he was still kinda "clingy" to her, but NOTHING like my daughter. My son now is more "into" me than my wife. He constantly wants to do stuff with me, go places with me, go outside and do stuff in the yard with me... her, forget about it.

Back from a 3 day weekend of busy busy-ness. Did I miss anything interesting in the last 3 days?

As long as she sleeps at night, and doesn't wake up every fucking night screaming bloody murder, I'll take it. FUCK! Sleep is crucial is more important right now. I need some peace and quiet to keep my sanity, or else...

 

I'll sum it up. Most people like lobster, some don't. Nuno's about to have a breakdown. End of story!

And that's tough too. It's the opposite problem - I'm trying to get stuff done in the short windows of time I have, but it's so important to let him help out and be a part of things. It's funny, but being a dad know makes me remember my interactions at that stage with my dad differently. I built a couple pallet-wood low tables for our summer screen enclosure on Sunday. The kids got to nail the top boards in - it's tough to slow myself down from getting a task done, but so worth it when I can remember to do so.

 

Definitely. I enjoy the time and stuff my son and I do together, since he's 4 now and he's getting to the point that he wants to do things with me all the time, and I don't have to "super manage" him like before. He's super independent now, so that makes it easier and super fun to do stuff. The other day we ran a bunch of errands together. Went to the store to return cans and bottles, went to home depot to have a copy of a key made, went to my buddy's house so we could watch a soccer game on tv... and when I'm outside cutting the grass, he rides around in his little tractor and pretends he's cutting the grass as well, and I don't have to constantly stop to check on him. Love it!

 

I had that same discussion this weekend (about the lobster, not about Nuno) with my cousins who were up from Floriduh. They absolutely love the fresh lobster, shrimp, scallops, etc that we have up here and can't figure out why I'd rather have a burger

Is Nuno's pending breakdown lobster-related?

 

Took 2 hours to get our 2 year old down last night, week 2 of his “big boy bed” I was losing my shit. Gonna try a different approach tonight. The 3 month old is sleeping almost through the night; better than his brother.

My wife has resentment because I work overnights and she bears the brunt of their finicky sleep schedules but doesn’t recognize that I only get on average 5 hours a day to keep the household a well oiled machine.

Moral of the story, kids are tough; but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Our discussion was more along the lines of, we're in New England, lets just assume everyone likes lobster. With that base line established, some people just do ridiculous things with lobster that make it unappetizing (like chop it up and throw it in a martini or a bloody mary for example...) Some people are just savages when it comes to lobster!

In other news, and probably one of the reasons it's been so tame 'round here, where's RRG?

 

There's a restaurant over on the coast that does a lobster tail bloody mary. Or you can get it with a jumbo shrimp, instead. Gross either way. And stupid $$$, too.

Frankly, though, lobster's unappetizing no matter how you cook it.

 

I would totally drink a Lobster Bloody Mary!

Edit - I need 1 spare SCS F5 16 inch rim with 4.5bs... however I can't find one for the life of me so any thoughts on something similar in size and setup I could run as a spare with similar bs and specs?

 

Painted the “yard work shed” and stained the deck this weekend instead of working on my Tacoma because I’m waiting for a few intercooler parts... the worst part of this build is getting on a roll for 4-5 hours then realizing I’m missing specialty part X that needs to be ordered
