Also took the dogs for a ride in the quahoging skiff to our favorite little sanbar.. the black lab usually plays fetch for hours before playing keep away but he was being a dickhead this weekend and wasn’t too keen on dropping the stick after a few throws.166B9ED7-DA56-4984-9907-9EEED5C5F68A.jpg

Deck and shed look good, but damn does that wall need a good power wash and scrubdown.

Unfortunately that didn’t work I bought the house as a fixer up that vinyl is permanently pitted from previous owners letting weeds overgrow the house. I will probably replace or if I’m cheap light sand and paint the vinyl thats pitted like that this fall

Unfortunately a lot of yearly yard maintenance stuff was neglected for at least the past 10 years so a lot of things are too far gone for usual clean up methods but thats why I bought the house/property like I did there’s alot of sweat equity available

    Aha.

If that's the case, I'd just replace it if I were you. To do that whole wall you're looking at under $100 in parts and it'll look a LOT better (and be a lot faster) than trying to sand it down.

I hate vinyl siding. It's nice that it's such low maintenance, but it has no character. Just makes houses look cookie cutter.

I have it on mine, it's tolerable because it's brown and textured kind of like wood, but I'd still prefer wood.

Mine is kind of different; it's textured to look like blue-painted shakes. Wasn't crazy about it at first but it's sort of grown on me. I'd still prefer actual cedar shakes, but the lack of maintenance is definitely nice.

    Better shot:

nice job on the run. what did you use to track the run? I just got a garmin watch that works pretty good. 5mi in under 40min was the min standard in 173rd Airborne Division when I was there.
I just had an MRI for my knee read this week, no ligament damage! just some cartilage damage and a small cyst on my meniscus (causing pain) but it might go away... I cant wait to get back to trail running now that I know Im not slowly tearing my ligaments and meniscus.

I have a garmin forerunner 235, that was just a screenshot from garmin connect, the site where they have personalized dashboards for all your stuff. I love the garmin, it does a great job.
I prefer trail running but during the week I don't typically have time to go. Go for a 5 mile run at work 3/4 times a week and then a trail on saturday mornings usually.

I like that better than mine. Mine's pretty plain. I can't find any decent pictures of it--they're all far off or focused on something else. I have a million of the inside, and back by the river, but not much of the house itself. Google Street View doesn't have my road, either.

Here's an old MLS listing photo of the back that mostly accurately represents it.

Yeah, the only reason I've got a good picture of mine is because I was taking a shot of my gutter system for the gardening thread. Still have to power wash it just like regular vinyl siding, but I do like that it's not just the plain fake shiplap design.

I will be in Raleigh NC in early september or late august for a wedding if you can get them over there I'd be happy to bring them back. Looks like someone else might be there earlier than I am though.

You go too far, I'm not fat, but I am over running long distances. Did XC running in H.S. in middle school because my older brother was a stud runner/xc skier. It was okay, but I prefer a ball in the sports I play I guess.

As Kenny Powers said, "I play real sports, not trying to be the best at exercising"

***I put that quote in because I love it, not to talk shit to you :anonymous:

I had cedar on my house in N.C. and it looked great...the woodpeckers thought so too. I probably fixed 10 big holes a summer, and that was with me chasing birds away 10 times a day. There aren't as many up here, but I'll never do wood siding again I don't think. We have cement board on the buildings for our business and I think that is the good stuff. Not really any maintenance, but looks very close to wood. Obviously costs more than vinyl though.

Cool, thanks guys, let me see if I can make the buy and I'll let you know if I need a pick-up or not, still need to figure out the Memphis to Raleigh leg in any case.

Plus it's fireproof and longer-lived, if I recall correctly. Same bland pattern, though.

I grew up playing hockey, soccer and baseball. I only got into running probably 2 years ago and even then for the first year I wasn't doing much, maybe 8-10 miles a week at a 9 min pace. The last year or so I decided to push myself and be more healthy and get in good shape. I've done 350 miles this year so far, I have a goal of 800 miles for the year. I've lost ~30 lbs over the last 2 years from changing my diet and running. Now I'm working on lifting more to put 10-15lbs back on, but better. Running is weird for me, don't necessarily enjoy it, but I am able to clear my head while doing it.

Yeah, as an adult, unless you join up a soccer league or something like Nuno it is hard to stay active and in shape, especially if you work inside. I think what you are doing is a good thing, and I have actually thought about getting back into running again just to gain some stamina and improve breathing. I smoked ciggs in college and after for about 6-8 years and it would be nice to get some of the stamina/lung strength back. Just quitting has helped a bunch over the last 3 or 4 years, but it isn't the same.
