I love how half the replies are people talking trash on OP's idea for what he wants to do to his truck. Stop being so damn judgmental. If he wants to to make the bed into a living room who are we to judge? Give him some pointers or leave him and the thread alone.

    Like, so many.
A tri-fold won't work because they don't fold all the way up. At least the two I've had don't. A soft top might be a good option. The bed mat won't be comfortable to lay on. Maybe get some foam or a cot to keep back there.A blow up mattress would work too. I agree that setting everything up outside of the bed will give you much more flexibility. You could get one of those EZ up tents like folks use at the beach and throw some camp chairs back there. It's basically a car camping set up but with a generator for your electronics. Do your thing, OP.

You should start this project with these two games.

You'd spend hours on the road driving to the middle of nowhere just to post up 20 feet away from some other dudes truck?

What do you do when you hear gunfire in the desert, call in an airstrike?

Sounds like you need cap, so everything is locked in and hopefully out of sight. A Tonneau cover wont hide much due to the lack of room. Also with a Cap you can attach a bike rack on top.

Hell, I camped IN my FJ40 for years. Cooked, slept, both me and the dog. Did drop the tailgate, raise the upper door panel, and wrapped the ass-end with a canvas wrap-around, but it worked just fine.

I support all of this. I love me some videogames, but they stay at home when I'm outdoors.... that's kind of the point of getting away.

I just wish I had the balls to take my J-15 gibby with me.

You guys are seriously blowing my mind right now.

"The things I like to go to the woods to do are okay but the things YOU like to do in the woods are NOT OKAY!"

Why start talking shit about bringing video games to the woods? Too much of a luxury? Too high tech for nature? Maybe you all should start leaving your modern trucks at home and walk your hypocritical asses into the woods with a leather canteen and bare feet. Or better yet, just shut up. 4 pages of garbage responses to OP's question. Hopefully he learned his lesson on where to go for actual help because it's obviously not here.

Fortnite Battle Royale requires internet so I just couldn't do this...not enough story mode games out...

Hey man, its a free country, but people telling me they want to drive out innnawoods to play videogames just seems asinine. I have a hard time with it even in an RV. My truck is built so I can escape normal life. If I wanted to play PC games I'd stay at home.

Make you get a pure sine wave generator. Cheap generator will fry your electronic stuff.

Hey man, first off, sorry some people in here are giving you a hard time, but I'll use a guitar analogy. Basically, you've just bought a brand new shiny Stratocaster, and asked "How do I play like Jimi Hendrix? Oh, but I also have to be doing a handstand at the same time, what pedal should I buy?" So don't be surprised you're getting a lot of crazy answers. What you want to do is incredibly complex.

So let's think about that guy who wants to play like Jimi while standing on his head. What would we tell him? Learn your scales. Learn your chords. Practice practice practice.

I'm going to tell you the same thing. You really need to drive out to the places you want to go first BEFORE you bring the living room. Scout it out. It sounds like you really haven't done much camping. Frankly, camping is a huge goddam hassle where all the shit that is solved and easy in civilization is suddenly a problem and difficult. Everything get's dirty. Everything has to be set up and taken down. You can't go to the store for anything and no one is going to make you food. Heck, no one is going to make you a kitchen either. Or a pot. Or an outlet. Or have butter. Or salt. Or a bathroom.

Okay, so first, get out there. See what it's like. Then plan your build. And with this build, I think you're going to want a trailer. Powering shit just isn't easy and the Tacoma bed is tiny. I've slept back there with my girlfriend under a camper shell and it's tight. Really tight. I do not "hang out" back there. Oh, and I bring the acoustic.
