Hey everyone so I just hit 23k miles with my 16 off-road and I have been thinking a lot about doing the TRD pro wheel setup that I see a lot of you guys with. It’s popular but a good look.

Anyways I went to my dealer to ask about getting them and I was told by the parts guys that, because I have 23k miles it’s going to ruin the ride quality. If I put them on and don’t put a leveling kit on as well they are going to rub like crazy. If I really want to do that setup I either need a 3 inch lift or leveling kit. I see a lot of you guys with 265/70/17 (which is what I would be doing) and I have asked questions about rubbing before and a lot of you guys say you have no problems even at full crank.

Is my dealer trying to sucker me to buy more then I actually need or is he right?

Buy the rims and never look back. You don't need a level kit. Unless you want one. The dealer is lying, or just simply doesn't know.

I second what these peeps are saying. Dealership is pulling your leg. Probably want to sell you some spacers or something.

The parts guy might not be lying. He could just be misinformed. Either way he is wrong.

Dealership guy was probably just confusing 265s with 285s. Either way the T4R pro wheels and 265s fits no problem. I've been rolling around on it for almost 2 years now.

Then again the "because you have 23k miles it's going to ruin your ride quality" makes zero sense. The more aggressive tires will effect ride quality but the miles on your truck is completely irrelevant.

    Hum.... Houston something is wrong!

My brother has a GEN2 with the Gray TRD wheels and BFG 265/70/17's.

He's got a lift and leveling and still rubs when the wheel is totally cocked left or right.

I don't know if the GEN2's are lower than the GEN3's or if the tire itself is causing the issue?

He's out of warranty so lifting did not present a warranty issue. The dealer did the wheel and tire mounting.

"Is my dealer lying to me?"

    Yes, probably.

I don't even need to read the thread.

Also don't buy them from a dealer. My local dealer was charging 3k for them (on a truck). Picked mine up for about 900

Disregard what the dealer is saying, you won't have any issues.
