I may be watching a bit more TV now, with the little free time I have, because of this new tv streaming service I signed up for. They have A TON of movies on there, including the ones that just came out on PPV, so I'll probably be watching, or trying to watch, a bunch of stuff.

I don't either. The most recent thing I really enjoyed was The Americans. I'm fascinated by Cold War stuff. There was an old AT&T Long Lines tower near my parents' house. The building next to it was so cool--huge 12-cyl diesel generators, motorized louvers to shut off outside air with filters behind them, fallout showers, a panel labeled NBC Detection Circuit (which means "Nuclear Biological Chemical").

Not that I've seen this in person...:D

I've been watching that off and on, on Amazon Prime/Netflix (don't remember which). They just shot that Larrick guy in the last episode I watched.

My wife and I started The Americans a few months ago. Just watched the finale, holy shit that was a damn good show.

The final season is definitely the best.

Yeah, it wasn't popular compared to a lot of what's on lately, but it was so well done. The finale was one of the best I've ever seen.

Right after watching the finale part of me wished they closed the loop on a few other storylines. But then later on I was thinking about it and was so glad they ended it the way they did. It was so good. Most shows screw up the finales, they didn't.

My "TV" is only for Xbox. Games, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. Occasionally we will hook up an OTA antenna to pick up the Super Bowl, or more recently the royal wedding.

I've got something similar! Mine is free, I just need a good VPN, which isn't free, and lots of hard drive space.

Mine will be cheap since I am splitting it with my buddy. It's called XStreamingTV. It's $25/month, but if you pay for a year in advance it comes out to be about $22.50/month. You're allowed to install it on 5 devices, but if you stream it via the browser it doesn't count as a device.

So he has it on one of those Android boxes, and I have it on another. We're splitting the cost of the subscription.

You get a ton of International channels, a lot (if not all) U.S. channels, a ton of sports, and a ton of movies. So far it seems to be working really well since I dropped my DSL internet and went with cable internet.

EDIT: The plan/goal is to cancel my DirecTV service eventually. For now we are just downgrading to the smallest package they have, until we make sure that what we watch, or should I say the wife watches, we can get on the streaming service.

Yep, that's the plan for us as well, hopefully. My internet is about $50 or $55/month for 100-200 mbps.

So that, plus the streaming tv and we're still saving a ton compared to what we're paying now. I think the smallest DirecTV package is still around $60 bucks a month or so, and you get jack shit for channels, so value wise, if we cancel Direct TV and just keep the streaming, we're still saving a lot.

Hahaha, you'd shit if you knew what I paid... somewhere around $250 just for TV I think. And worse, just about all I watch is channel 9 news for about 15 minutes every morning with my coffee. And I'm almost positive I can get that over the air.

I never fully understood companies that are really tough on that stuff.

We have students filtered quite a bit, but staff can get to pretty much anything. Only blocked categories for them are malicious things or anything they'd lose their job over anyway. We could pull browsing history for staff if there were a reason to, and we did once when admin suspected someone wasn't being productive. But that stuff should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis IMO.
