Say it ain't so? Todd, one of those lazy guys that pay twice as much for premixed coolant rather than just buying a gallon of the uncut stuff and a $.99 jug of distilled water at Wally World?

Ya know I looked coolant up on the Advance Auto Website. The Prestone 50/50 for Toyota engines was on sale for 14.99 and you'd need 2 of them, making the total $29.98 before tax. That's weird because that's EXACTLY what I paid for my uncut gallon of Toyota coolant at the Toyota Dealer Parts counter...after taxes. And here I thought I was splugeing on the good stuff when really I'm paying about the same by the time I buy the gallon jug of distilled water at Walmart. Far out. Imagine, not getting raped by the Stealership for a change.

 

How convenient to you need it to be? Go to wally world, grab your prestone from the automotive department, grab the distilled water from a couple isles over, go home, dump the coolant in, fill the rest up with distilled water (the water pump will mix the stuff nicely), run the truck until the thermostat opens, top off with the water and fill the reservoir with the water up to the full line and you're done without having done anymore work than you would have dumping two jugs of mixed coolant in the thing and you'd have paid a lot less (unless you buy the nice Cherry Red Toyota coolant).

Of course, you'd have to FIND the uncut coolant which I suspect might be a task in itself these days.

Only if Wally world is further away than the auto parts store. You should be able to get the coolant and the water at wally world...most likely cheaper than the autoparts store. I know my Castol Edge synth oil is an ass load cheaper than at the auto parts store. Unfortunately, their filter selection is crap so I end up getting my Purolator filters at the auto parts store anyway, but it's on the way so it no big.

Besides, everyone knows I'm a cheap bastard, lol...well most of the time, anyway. I do spring for the good oil and coolant.

 

Wellhard to make a extra stop when he passes 2 parts stores on the way home and for me I work at one so I just buy what I have and need and don’t stop at another place. Wouldn’t believe the amount of 50/50 we sell. Definitely more then full strength.

 

What Tim said. I never go to Wal-Mart anyway, and chances are I am going to need to be getting something for my truck that Wal-Mart wouldn't have. The auto parts stores are easier to get to for me than Wal-Mart as well, especially when I hit them on the way home from work.

I don't even buy the Prestone designed for Toyotas.... I honestly have never even heard of or seen it for sale there before.

 

And I really doubt you pay retail, haha. And yeah, people's laziness (and probably lack of mechanical knowledge) doesn't surprise me in the least. I will admit the premixed stuff is probably great if you're just topping off the reservoir, but doing a complete fill up...way cheaper to just buy the uncut stuff and a jug of distilled water.

Yup. They have it for Honda/Nissan as well. Far out, huh? That's how they are selling ATF these days too. It's no longer Dextron or Dextron II. Now it's for Ford/Chevy or Toyota/Nissan or whatever make you drive. Probably just another gimmick to separate you from your money, but what else is new.

 

You want tough to find? I have to use either Prestone LowTox or Peak Sierra propylene glycol based antifreeze to qualify the plasma freezers at each site. When I was in Odessa I had to drive to Abilene for it (6 hour round trip). I can usually find it at NAPA or O'Reilly, and if they don't have it they will order it. Fuckers in Odessa straight up refused to order it for me. Luckily, here in Allentown I only had to drive to Mount Pocono, but that was still a 3+ hour round trip. Total pain in the ass.

It' gonna be a long night. House ac fan took a shit and no local parts.....

 

Damn, been there, Brah. That really sucks. You have my sympathies. Worse is when the power goes out for no apparent reason in the afternoon, and it takes Teco 10 hours to fix it 'cause then out window units we have as back ups don't even work.

Edit: at times like that when it got too much to bear, we've go jump in the truck a ride around for a while with the A/C going. Can't imagine having to sleep in it though.

 

That sucks my AC has been acting up also. I clean the drain line it help a lil.

 

How with a 34 week prego? Need to search out a portable ac for the night.
