So i gave them a shout. The guy there said I should be ok with the 275 but after a while of talking i said if you had to pick which is the safer bet between 275/65/18 or 265/70/18 he said the second one.

 

Went to jd tire today, guy looked, took some measurements said the 70/18 would be really tight...
the 275/65/18 may make it now he said only cause the rim I chose (-12) would help push it out away from the uca.

 

Which will push it right into the body mount...

 

only option i got left then is the 265/65/18 then. Stock size sidewall. is it sufficient?

Just to clarify you do understand that the first number is the width of the tire and the second is the percentage of that width that the side wall is right?

Your sidewall for a 265 65 vs 275 65 is a difference of 6mm unless you bust out a tape measure you will never be able to notice

The 265 70 17 will give you a 185.5mm side wall vs the 176mm of the 275

Get 16" rims and more rubber on the sidewall, no dings.

17s for "overlanders", I would even run 15s if there was an option, but damn callipers are too big...

31.6 is a 32 tire, we round up.

Well 18s + off-road don't make sense if you ever plan on taking it anywhere further than just a dirt road.

 

Depends on the tire but with tread it's usually closer to the 32. My 265 70 17 duratrac measured 31.8"

My current actually measures 33.1"

For what it's worth I damaged one wheel a little with the 265 70 17 but I was at 12psi and hit a rock way too hard. Still holds air still balances, don't give a shit but I didn't buy wheels that I was afraid to scuff up or damage, which is why I chose something light and somewhat cheap

 

Honestly wish they had more of the tire sizes and load index I wanted in 16s. Would've loved to keep them

 

There is C index, you don't need more than that for 99%....
