Ours ride in the back with shell and big bed. Do worry about safety in case of a wreck though.

Been thinking about making a L shaped box for this lil booger I have a regular cab so she’s in the front seat but has to to be able to see out window which usually means she’s in my lap you can imagine how annoying that gets esp when she constantly runs from one side to the other need some kinda plat form and a divider at the same time . 9F3AE096-413F-4EF5-8C33-2B01EA581BE4.jpg

Does this look safe to you guys? I got this off the internet when I looked up how to transport a dog lol

Maybe make the chain more centered using the oem rail tie downs (I added a center rail) that way the dog can’t jump out, then adding a chest harness so the dog doesn’t break its neck incase of an accident. Then add a soft topper for some shade and open up the sides for some ventilation?

It looks safe, and by safe, I mean common. I’ve seen a lot of those set ups around here. I don’t know if I’d do that myself though. The dog can’t get out by jumping over the sides but I don’t think it offers any protection in case of an accident.

I wouldn't chain up my dog in the bed just like I wouldn't chain up my friend in the bed. Just my 2 cents.

Also, I usually just fold the seats down in my 3rd gen. That was one of the features I loved about the truck. I hated using a pet hammock in my Silverado.

I love it when dogs are chained in the bed of a truck... they bark and growl at people next to them at stop lights I sometimes throw them a treat ie cat to get the party started while I wait for the light to turn green.

I just have one of those simple seat covers for dogs. Wraps around the headrests and behind the seat, covers the whole rear seat. It was cheap, like $20 but its thick and waterproof. My dog gets carsick, she puked all over it and everything just rinsed right off. No stain or residual odor. It's lasted about 1.5 years so far without issue.

It's not the hammock type that attaches to the front seats, just covers the back. So she does get drool on the doors and back of the front seats, but its a truck
