Currently having a bad case of buyers remorse and wondering if I got ripped off, looking for anyone else who bought a similar truck and what they paid for it...

I bought- 2017 New Black TRD Off Road in February 2017 with tow package, premium tech package (blind spot monitors, heated seats, sun roof) double cab, 5ft bed.

I paid- $6,000 down payment with $36,387.11 financed through Toyota at a 2.8% interest rate over 72 months. Total paid is 42,387.11 (no interest). Interest on amount financed is $3,230.89 total. $550.25/month payments for 72 months. Total cost with interest comes out to be $45,618 (including the down payment).

When I originally bought it I wasn't really sure what I was doing and I felt like I got ripped off and have really been regretting it ever since but never thought I could do anything about it because the truck was always worth less than what I owed. At a point now where I owe less than what I think I could get for it and feel like I need to sell it to wash my hands of the whole experience. I like the truck, feel dumb I got ripped off and it ruins it for me.

    Thoughts?

Maybe a little high depending on inventory availability and location, but maybe not. Not a terrible interest rate by any means. Definitely not a rip off.

As long as it's a TRD Off-Road 4x4 and not a 4x2, I don't think that's a bad deal. Could have been a lot worse and your interest rate isn't bad.

I got the same truck in orange last spring for mid $30's. Does that $42k purchase price include sales tax? $42k for an offroad seems a few thousand above MSRP.

Seems about average. Not good or bad.
Interest rates from Toyota seem to be fair also. In comparison to Major Banks and private rates that is. Dont usually see 0 percent on Taco's.

More than what I'd want for a monthly payment, but it's not unreasonable for what you paid (which is not unreasonable for what you got, depending on the local market)

If you love the truck don’t let what you paid concern you. I got my OR DCLB without tech April 2017 for about 36,600 before taxes and what not. Even with great credit could only secure 3.5% apr. I too put down 6k and still have a $600 payment. Luckily my company covers about 2/3 of the payment.

I too felt concerned that I was swindled for the first month or two but then I just started enjoying the truck and moved on from those thoughts.

If your life has other significant disappointments that you cling to for 18 months or more, and you normally let people push you into things you don't feel real good about, you need professional counseling.

And TW ain't the place to get it.

If this truck is the only hiccup you've ever had in a life of sunshine and unicorns, then count your blessings and enjoy the truck. Or sell it and move on if you can't shake it off. Either way, it's not the end of the world.

But the question is, if you sell, what will you do differently to handle the next purchasing processes? You know, not to repeat the emotional carnage. :notsure:

If you bought a 2017 now at that price, IMO you overpaid. Even though the Tacoma value holds well over time, "old" inventory on lots should be priced to sell in order to clear space for newer inventory. If that dealership's prices are still at last year's prices, then they don't have any more factory build slots available for newer inventory and are having to sit on the existing inventory.

If you bought the 2017 in 2017, then you need to provide a tad more info. Where are you located? Did you get a warranty in that price? Each Toyota region and states have different pricing and average price sold.

I think the interest rate sucks, but that's me. Otherwise it seems your total price isn't too far off from what a lot of people paid. I think it's more than I would pay, but what matters is you're happy with the truck.

I paid around 36,000 including TTL for a truck with almost the same MSRP around the same time. Some did better than me, some did worse. Don’t dwell on it, just enjoy the truck.

I would not look back and just try to enjoy the truck. Just consider it a lesson learned for the next purchase.

Not enough details to provide you a 100% accurate answer, OP. But as others have stated, not the best or worst price out there. Enjoy the truck!

    A little high IMO.

That being said you still own a great truck that should last you a long time. To help lessen the burden of the interest pay whatever extra you can a month.

Paid on the high side but not terrible. I bought my 2017 in 2016 and it was $40k OTD with 7 year warranty and TRD beadlock wheels.

Who cares though we are talking 1% difference. Enjoy it.

Sounds like you paid sticker price for the truck...yeah you got bent! Next time you know 7-10% off the MSRP is pretty common on the Tacoma.
