What jack do you use?

after the lift and tires, my stock “bottle jack” is no long an option.
I do carry a hi-lift 24/7 but that is not practical for roadside and garage maintenance use. I’m looking for something that could possiable fit in the stock position under the back seat. Let me know what you are using for a truck with a lift!

 

I use a 3 ton floor jack from Harbor Freight at home. If I need to use a jack in an emergency, offroad or on the street, I'll use my hi-lift. Keep it well lubricated (keep a can of WD40 in the truck and spray it before each use) and it won't be dangerous. Used it countless times at home before I got my floor jack.

 

I love my hi lift but since I removed my sliders it won’t serve much purpose until I get my bumpers. I mainly use it for trails with buddies that can’t get thru the rough stuff now. But would still like something in the truck just in case.
The high lift just seems unstable and prone to damaging the truck if it slips out

 

Yeah if you don't have a secure point to use it on like sliders or bumpers then it's no good. I would look into an aftermarket bottle jack that extends higher than the factory one, any hardware store or automotive store should sell them.

 

How hi (an extension) of a jack would you recommend?

 

I really can't say for sure...depends on your lift and how high your frame is off the ground. Take a tape measure and measure the distance and get a jack that advertises a greater distance than that. Especially if you have suspension that has longer travel, you'll need it to extend pretty high to get the tires to leave the ground.

 

Would be kind of a pain to carry a heavy ass floor jack around everywhere lol. They do work best though

 

ah, it's aluminum...yeah that would be the way to go. Probably easier to deal with than removing a Hi-Lift anyway

Powerbuilt 640912 All-In-One 3-Ton Bottle Jack with Jack Stand before I dropped the dough on the pro eagle. I might still get it for every day driving, and save the off road jack for actual off road adventures.

I just got mine with the mount. Do you have any tips and/or pics of how you bolted your pro eagle down? I'm wary of drilling into the bed. I want to make sure I use the right hardware. Ideally I'd want to use rivnuts so I can easily unmount the base if I need more space.

I'm also considering bolting the mount on the bottom of my truck box. Does anyone have any concerns about that?

 

Got mine on the way, got the mount with it, is yours bolted/fixed or does your mat hold it in place? I’m tossed between several ways to mount mine when it comes in.

 

Want to warn you guys about using the factory bottle Jack. The manual designates jacking from the frame in between the cab mounts and the control arms. Was looking underneath some new 2018 trucks and the frame rail is perfectly smooth and flat in the jacking area. My 2017 feels ever so slightly concave in the Jack areas where I used my Jack to rotate my tires. I would put a piece of wood between the frame and the Jack for future reference.

 

Have you mounted yours yet? I haven't because I'm still researching the best way to drill through the composite bed and which hardware to use.

Looking at the picture, I believe jeff b bolted the mount through his mat and bed.

 

I haven’t. It’s sitting in the bed with a cable lock through it. Nothing I came up with seemed to work or make sense. I was hours away from getting a swing out bumper from Pelfreybilt and was going to mount it to that but luckily my indecisiveness saved me thousands! Now I’m back to trying to figure out something.

 

Whew! Glad you dodged that bullet with Pelfrybilt. It's a shame what happened.
I'd like to see your setup if you ever get around to bolting in the ProEagle mount. I'm thinking of drilling holes on the tops of the ridges rather than in the valleys of the bed as long as there's enough clearance between the bottom of the jack and mount for the bolt heads.

 

I'd like a ProEagle to carry around in the truck because the bottle jacks aren't anything but extra weight at this point.

For the garage I have a floor jack. Thing is bulletproof and unbeatable.
