Oh man... I thought I had decided on the Snugtop Rebel over the GB Sport, but now this photo changes my mind again! It looks good on the 5’ bed! Maybe the Snugfit photos are on a 6’ bed - which makes it look a lot different. Nice looking truck!

Here's the skeleton inside my CXHD. Actually it's nice because you can hang stuff on it and mount things too it. It's never gotten in my way.

Did that come with the cap or was this added on after? If so, what brand?

This is the ARE CX-HD. It is the same model as the CX with an internal skeleton to increase load capacity

Thank you for the information. I have already ordered my ARE cap so I might be SOL. I was unaware of the interior skeleton option until this post.

I put the snugtop on last year, it's great. It's pricey but very nice, i used it for camping when it's cool enough :)

I’d call and ask them if they can make the change. Can’t hurt

Is that a rebel? Sportsman package? What did you pay for it?

If you got a CX, they can add the HD reinforcing frame. This can't be installed in other models.

The local rep for the Century tops told me none of the caps really are made to hold a rack and an RTT. Do you all think the ARE CXHD might be the only one really built for the loads? I know the Snugtop “sportsman package” raises the load rating to 500 pounds - but the tent and two adults (without any gear) are somewhere between 390-450 pounds. And I have no idea what a Prinsu cabrac weights.

    Let me know your thoughts?

I did not know they can add the internal skeleton after production.

I'm in this same camp right now lol. I think the capacities quoted by all companies are dynamic loads and conservative at that. I think static weight can increase quite a bit more.

Leitner Designs quotes their stuff like that:

I see you have two different side doors. I’m going back and forth between window-doors or not. Having both, do you use the window-door much? Would you miss it if you didn’t have it?

How is the overlap with the tailgate on the LEER, Century, etc? Is there enough overlap so that you cannot open the tailgate if the shell is locked? I recall reading a post in some other forum where the OP mentioned that there might be an issue here, and to go Snugtop. Can't seem to find the post.....

Was quoted $2,100 for a Snugtop Rebel with sliding front window, carpet, and roof rack mounts. Seems like the going rate.

I was quoted ~2800 for a rebel with sportsman package, sliders on one side, sliding windoor on another, carpet, drop down front window. not sure if there was tax, install was another 100, and tax rate is 10%, I have to wait 6-8 weeks if I order this week, and the drive to the snugtop place is 6ish hours away. I'm getting worked pretty hard. I really dislike the "c pillar" of the rebel on a DCSB, it is so bulbous and the windoor is tiny. But the roof rack height and width on the ARE CX-HD seem pretty lame to me too. But the dealer for ARE is 30 mins away and $2550 OTD.

I price shopped with 6 different companies and this was the best deal in So Cal I could find. This is seriously one dope camper shell though.

@FernGomez17 are you able to open the tailgate if the shell is closed?
