My wife’s Pilot has had the door sills beat up from the kids getting in and out. Im looking around for some on her ride which has prompted me to preemptively install on my Taco.

Who has had good luck with any of these. Looking for something to protect and am open to skid or non-skid. If you would ahare your thoughts on price, durability, modifications ( having to cut or trim), skid surface, etc.

    Thanks yall.

tmp_18700-IMG_20161116_1654417656605919533807749.jpg I have a 6 year old and I worried about the same thing. I bought the OEM ones from eBay. I can't remember what I paid but it was worth it. Then I added vinyl decals to the letters to give some contrast and support the member here who makes them.

^I agree. Got the OEM 3rd Gen ones on my 2015. I can’t see them ever wearing out and I think they were only $20. Plus you can buy the colour matched decals for the letters.

I like the OEM but am only hesitant because they say “Tacoma”.
I have the OEM all weather mats Which also say “Tacoma”. I feel like that is a lot of “Tacomas”. Lol
    Thanks for the input though.

Sounds like a good excuse to get some Weathertechs. :)

I understand though. I did not put decals in the dash "Tacoma" for that reason. But I still have more cup holders than Tacomas even with my mods.

Haha. That’s true. There’s a member who used to make metal ones. Not sure if he still does or not.

Ive thought about it... i have weathertechs in the wife’s Pilot and love them.
Just hate spending extra dough on weatherproof mats when I have weatherproof mats.

I have the factory ones. They are plastic and molded on. I was hesitant but they are awesome.

That may be a lot of "Tacomas" but they'll still look better than scratched up door sills. I have the OEM on mine and really never even pay that much attention to the fact that they even have Tacoma on them being they're all black. They were very easy to install and have held up great. I think you'll be happy with them. Just make sure you clean the door sill surface of any dirt or wax first. They come with very strong adhesive backing and you shouldn't have to worry about them coming loose.

Kind of like all the TRD's for stickers. Seems like it's on everything.

Just got this one - it's a work in progress.....
Fun fact: the factory door sill protectors are nice and do the job.....but they are made of a very thin plastic. It's almost inevidable that you will get a bubble, or two, or ten, when installing. If so, take a needle and poke a small hole (won't be able to see such a small hole later) in the center of the bubble, then work the air out of the tiny hole. Voila - no more bubble.
