I went crazy for like 3-4 months, then I gave up and just stopped watching videos, rarely try to load a gif and stick to mainly article and forum based content. Even the new reddit configuration where shit just loads I can't do. I have had to revert to classic mode or else nothing can run in my whole house cause fucking reddit wants to load 300+ gifs and videos all at once. Actually Jalopnik tries that shit too.

As far as the selco server, I have zero clue about any of that, all I know is we pay verizon every month for this privilege.:typing:

I'm somewhat debating whether I want to buy a second set of wheels, sensors, and dedicated snows for the F-150 or if I want to just replace the Michelin Primacy XCs it has with something more aggressive. I want to keep it reasonably quiet, though. I like how little road, wind, and engine noise this truck has.

People talk about how great Michelin's all season tires are in snow. I don't think any of them have ever had a dedicated snow tire because I was not impressed with these.

From experience, that actually tends to make rather a lot of noise. More than you'd expect, at least.

My brother is 10 years younger than I am and I think he's headed toward living home for a long time. Doesn't do much besides play video games, talks about how it's pointless to have ambition because you probably won't end up successful anyway. I've tried to influence him, but I've pretty much given up. I just end up getting mad at his opinions and the way he seems fine with just existing and not doing anything productive with his life.

Mine's a little under 2 years younger. He seems perfectly content to exist as a 'farm hand' under my parent's roof, since I've gotten him jobs that he's quit, and interviews that he hasn't shown up to over the years. After the last interview that I set up for him that he skipped on I decided I was done; it's not worth burning my stockpile of 'favors' with people.
Got him a free beater car that I sunk probably $500 worth of parts and a couple of weekends so that he could commute to the easy part-time job I had lined up for him (called in a favor with my old boss from high school to get him a job stocking shelves at a local grocery store). He quit the job after about a month and a year later scrapped the car because it needed another $250 for a new sticker and because he 'couldn't afford gas' or insurance for it (It was a little Mazda Protege), which wouldn't have been a problem if he'd just kept the damn job.
    So I gave up.

Jalopnik fucking sucks for that. That site never loads correctly even with great internet. Plus the unlimited scroll feature when you open an article is annoying.

Idk where the XC's rate on the Michelin totem pole, but I have heard great things about the LTX series for trucks. When I bought my old s10 they had them but were severely and unevenly worn. I would have bought another set but the tire guy at Sam's Club directed me towards the DuraTrac's, aren't perfect but I do really like.

That sucks! how old is he? If he is a teenager that is way to young (any age is too young) to have an outlook like that, I would be suspicious that it is indicative of other issues he may be dealing with.

He wanted a job (or pretended to) at one point. He put in applications and didn't get calls back. I told him he needs to follow up--they probably get dozens of applications from high school kids with nothing to differentiate one from another. The ones who are persistent are the ones they'll hire. He told me I was wrong and refused to call.

I decided I was done when he made a comment about me "not exactly being a success". I'm no millionaire, but I think I'm doing okay.

    1) do you live independently from your parents?
    2) do you pay your own bills?
    3) do you have your own car?
    4) do you buy your own food?
    5) do you have a job?

If you answered 'yes' to the above, then you're a success. 'No' to any of them means you're questionable, 'no' to all of them means you've tanked.

My parents have enabled it for almost 15 years now. He lives with them, so he's their problem. I'm done.

The problem is that eventually (hopefully no time soon) they'll die, and he'll become my problem. He'll be in for a rude damn awakening if he thinks he's moving in and sponging off of me, at that point.

You own a house and just got a brand new truck. Unless you used a credit card you haven't paid off to afford all of that, I think you're doing fine!

I think the XC was an OEM only tire that they just started selling retail. It's only available in two sizes. Probably geared mostly to be quiet and have low rolling resistance.

He's 16. I think some of it is a case of it being tolerated for his whole life. He'll sit inside and play video games while our 60-year-old mother is outside weedwacking and mowing the lawn. I even mow her lawn whenever I stop down and see it needs it, and I live almost an hour away!

He's also extremely opinionated, but his opinions are all terrible perspectives. I have no idea where he's getting them from.

Yup, I think success is being self sufficient. Nothing more, nothing less.

Mine's been enabled too--I think that's most of the problem.

Ha, nope, no credit card debt. I use them for everything I can to rack up rewards then pay in full when the statement cuts.

He still has plenty of time to change outlooks. Does he like to do anything besides play videogames? like sports or music or anything like that? I think he enjoys his lifestyle (who wouldnt like being able to sit on their ass all day) and is trying to justify it to himself, maybe.

Also I just started doing that. Makes more way sense to build credit and get rewards then spend it all on a debit card. Plus you have more protections buying with a credit card.

As long as you can control yourself not to max out the limit and get yourself stuck paying the ridiculous interest rate. It makes so much sense!

    That's smart.
I've paid mine in full every time since I got my first CC,and that's a long time ago.
I've been debt free for years,ie, no mortgage, car payments and such.
Worked a ton of OT when I was younger in order to do this. It sucked then, but rewarding later in life.

Not really. They live in an area with literally tens of thousands of acres of state land. I spent my childhood biking all over the place and hiking through the woods. He hides behind his asthma as an excuse to not do anything active.

I end up with a few hundred bucks in rewards every year--it's great. Only way I use my debit card is for occasional cash from an ATM. I started steering my mom in that direction--she's very cost conscious, pays a lot of attention to grocery flyers and coupons but uses her debit card for everything. I think she's catching onto the fact that 1.5% back on everything adds up nicely over time.
