This is a running thread of Meets operating at Mettowee Off road extreme park in Whithall. The title will change to highlight the next date and info for that date will be added at the end. Quick links lead to different dates in the thread. If you have a good time or not feel free to update the poll at the top to reflect your experience.
1.Anyone interested in a meet at Mettowee Off road extreme park in late June? There is an entry fee of $25 for truck and driver and $5 for each passenger. I'm going to make shure we're not there on an event day so we have the course mostly to our selves. If we get enough participants we may be our own event. Their facebook page : 1.5 photo dump from July September 29th Mettowee offroad/ Sasquatch festival

    I think I’m in.

I’ve never been there before. What are the trails like? Most of the Facebook pics make it look like it’s only a mud put

There are a lot of backwoods trails that range from easy to fairly difficult. There is even a swimming area on the Mettowee river. Unfortunately the most popular day is mud fest, so all the facebook pages are of that craziness. I'm planning on doing a scouting trip june 16th. There is also an offroad obstacle course complete with a draw bridge.

    Too many to list.
    Added to calendar :mudding:

My truck is not off road worthy but it'll be nice to be part of the group and see everyone's trucks.

Diggin’ your profile name. There have been some sasquatch sitings in my neck of the woods, but not nearly as much as the Whitehall, NY area.

Edit: and compared to the PNW, well there is no comparison. It’s fascinating stuff!

If any of you are into WW kayaking, the Mettawee River by Granville is the real thing. You absolutely need to know what you’re doing and be comfortable with steep creeking. An acquaintance who was an expert kayaker got pinned in a vertical drop a few years back and didn’t make it out. If you do check it out, be careful.

I’ve paddled the Mettawee a bunch, great drop-pool run...was your acquaintance the young lady from 10 yrs ago or so? I was there the next day, my group was spooked. We spent the day doing swift-water training at the last drops.

Yes. I didn’t know her well, but my old paddling buddy was with her group and was one of the people who tried unsuccessfully to rescue her. I’m told that she had gotten vertically pinned in a drop, and the force of the water pushed her upper body against the deck of her boat and she could not be extracted.
