Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Pretty sure you will need to get it updated before you can tune though Mat can confirm. So long as you print out the TSB and take it in with you, and cite busy shifting behavior on the highway and/or clunks when going from reverse to drive they shouldn't give you much hassle. All they have to do is hook it up to techstream (which they do as their "multipoint inspection" anyway) and update the ECU from there. Not hard for them so long as they have the TSB.

If you already have the tuning hardware you can update the truck yourself using this free copy of Techstream ( http://blog.obdii365.com/2017/04/05/free-download-toyota-tis-techstream-12-00-127-100-patch/ ) in case the dealer gives you too much hassle as I still have the CUW file from when I updated my truck myself.

 

Anyone that got the 04b02 dongleless files try flashing both 87 and 91 tunes? I’ve been driving around on the 91 for the last 5 days and My truck shifts the same as stock and I only noticed a small increase in power. I flashed the 87 tune today just to see if maybe the tunes got mislabeled or something, and the 87 feels the exact same. Anyone else on 04b02 notice this?

I only have about 100 miles on the OV tune but I’m still loving everything about it. Did some highway driving the other day and boy what a positive difference it makes to our trucks at 70+ mile an hour speeds.

 

Thanks! I need to be cautious though. I'm afraid I'll get sucked in and do to my truck what I did to my KTM dual sport bike. This tuning stuff is a slippery slope. At least the tune is not obvious my wife

WOAH. This might save me a bunch of time. Can you PM the file? Fingers crossed that they figure it out at the stealership, but we'll see.

I towed a little 34” zero turn on both. 1.04 > 1.03.

 

For anyone interested, I will sell my kit for $350 shipped. You still have to purchase a license from OV Tune but it will save you a few dollars. I no longer have my Tacoma, and need to free up some mod money for the 4runner.

Has anyone come across this error when trying to write? I have flashed many times before but it has been over a month since the last time. I am running it from the same windows 10 laptop I have always been running it from. I have the small dongle version of the kit by the way. Thanks for any suggestions.
