    Yup!! Greased up the drive shaft this morning and all I got to do now is swap out my spark plugs.:) Then I will be complete with the 30K tune-up!!:D

    It seems some folks have problems and others don't. I've read that some folks were fine with Mobile 1 and addtives - even longterm. Believe me, I've searched.

    So, we'll see.

    Did you ever do any tight 8 circles after putting the oil & modifiers in?

    ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
    Not to go against Chris the wise. But my 05 trd sport has had mobil1 in it for roughly 2 years with the additive from the dealer with no issues. That said I need to change it in the next month or so and I will likely put dino back in even though it does feel a touch cooler with the mobil 1. But even with this being said I will probably just switch to some dino and change every 15 k vs 20k as it takes all of 10 min.

    No. I mix the addative with the oil when putting it in. Turning tight circles only applies pressure to the fiction plates. I havent found it really does anything as far as making the oil circulate better, or more thuroughly.

    Interesting to hear. FWIW, You and Janster are the only ones who I have heard not have issues with the M1 in the rear LS Diff. I blew more than $300.00 testing gear oils in the diff, and the M1 never worked right, in the 3 different ways I tried it. It always chattered.

    Yeah I was kinda surprised when I read this thread and had to check my "repair log" and double check I used mobil 1. I am going to switch it back to dino after reading this thread though so I sleep better at night. I keep thinking I am missing some sound or some other issue.
    Trust me you tested far more than I did and I do not question your results hence I am changing back to dino in the next week or 2.

    Well, My results are not scientific, and only in my truck. As Janster mentioned she has hear of people useing it, and not having issues. No reason to doubt Her, as she has loads of experiance as well. For me, and the Taco's I have used M1 in, they have made noise. Didnt affect the opperation from what I could tell, just that anoying chatter.

    So far from all the different posts I've read it seems like most people are having the greatest success with Redline oils for their LSD diffs. Does anyone else notice this?

    Doing tight 8 circles is supposed to force the oil & additives into the clutch plates where its needed the most. Otherwise, the additive does nothing if its not worked into the clutch plates where it needs to be.

    That's just something we've learned from the corvette peeps - and if you research on google, it's something that's recommended with lots of other manufacturers & auto enthusiasts. I honestly can't believe the lack of information the Toyota manauls & such have about the LSD additives. They show nothing about specifics or even how much to use....

    I believe it works because it worked on our corvette. I haven't changed the diff oil in this tacoma yet..... this will be its first time since the truck was new. I've read folks have had success with Redline also. But, I think Redline is a little bit more expensive than Mobile 1. I dunno...I'm crossing my fingers that I don't have any issues.

    I've played with gear lubes in Vettes, Vipers, and an S2000, and didnt notice any difference by doing the Figure 8's. I've discussed it with some friends, and we dont see how the addative could be "worked" into the friction plates. The addative flows with the oil, and doesnt build into the disks. We never could see the benafit, so we stopped. Let me know how the rear diff treats ya after a few hundred mmiles or so. I hope it works, as the M1 oil isnt cheap.

    I got bottles of 75W-90 at home already so I need to make stop at GM to get their additive unless you have better sugestion. Oil I got contains no LSD additive and it has Eaton approval. I could nto get 80W-140 they did not had it when I went to truck stop. :rolleyes:
    So I will see if I can track down somewhere else ...
    EDIt sorry I screwed up the linkl I am still reading that oil thread on BMW forum

    I have one from Northerntools it was on sale some time ago. Had used on the diff to check the difference between synthetic and regular oil.

    Hey Chris you might remember me PM'ing you about my grinding noise that I thought was up front :) well sure enough I really thought back and it started about 1k after changing my rear diff fluid to Mobile 1 syn.... it was making the grinding noise in my truck! I Switch to reg dino oil.... GONE! These trucks to not like Syn oil in the rear diff... I am a firm believer
