This is so true. When I was at my old shop people always asked how much hp they were going to gain with tuning. I got tired of explaining this and started just bs-ing with them and giving outrageous claims. It's not about max power, it's about useable power and a smooth curve. That's what made me so happy to see @Murphinator charts. Cool the tune made like 20hp at the top end, but I was more excited about the 20-30hp gains between 2500-3500. That's gonna be where you're using it most of the time anyways.

Stock motor, pipe and proper tuning for a 34% gain in power. Yeah this customer is gonna be happy

I follow OVT on FB and their recent posts have stated that they are out of the country with limited communication until July 10th. And also after june 15th, they are transitioning to a new email service which may cause delays.

Mat does seem to be pulled pretty thin.....but I don't think he is a one man show these days. If you check out FB, you'll notice an OVT branch in Hong Kong...and one in the Philippines...and someone in Taiwan too?....along with another group in Italy that is involved with the handheld tuners. I think Mat's skills as an toyota/lexus ECU tuner is in high demand using the OVT platform. And i think the OVT platform is also being used by the BRZ/FRS and Mazda crowd too....which is why I think Mat is out of the country so frequently. My guess is he's doing custom tunes onsite for overseas OVT affiliated shops. My guess again is that the FRS/BRZ, miata, mazdaspeed3 market(s) are much larger and more lucrative than the 2nd/3rd gen Tacomas....and prioritized differently.

Although I posted my dyno results from the OVT handheld tuner, I hope I wasnt the one to come off as unsatisfied.... quite the contrary. $500 for about +20HP (octane93) on the top end. Awesome dollar to HP ratio. Like how @Murphinator described it a few months ago, the truck is a changed animal from 3k rpms and onwards while OVTuned.

As for the guy that ended up pissing off Mat... Personally, I don't think it was wise to be a beta tester for the OVT self tuning software unless you have no-cost all inclusive access to a dyno. That guy didn't and lost some $$ on a non refundable deposit for a dyno session....because the OVT self tune stuff wasnt ready yet when the dyno appointment rolled around. Hopefully lesson learned for both parties and nobody got too butt hurt.

The results from OVT has been legit for me (handheld).... I believe the self tune software will be just as impressive. Just need to hang in there for another month or two or three...

(All this is just my interpretation of what has and is going on with the OVT development.....and hopefully stir up the good banter in this thread)

Has anyone installed a water/meth kit, and how did you set it up? MAF, boost, both, etc.

I'm toying with the idea of straight water injection post supercharger rotors and pre-intercooler.
