    Evening Everyone !!!:hattip:

I was having a fun time at the car show until I got ready to head home !! . Went to start the Camaro up to head home and everything was good as I was idling at 1400rpm when all of a sudden the ignition shut off !!:notsure:

At first I thought someone was playing a joke on me and turned my battery disconnect off which killed all battery power to the car . I got out of the car and checked the disconnect switch and it's in the "On " position then looked around to see if anyone pranked me

Get back in the Camaro and try to start it and it would start up then immediately shut off when I released the key . I thought that was odd and realizing it's possibly ignition related . I try a couple more times and the same scenario it'll start then die

I get out of the car and check the wiring and also at the MSD Box but don't see a problem . Get back inside and try and start and now all its doing is cranking over with no spark . Also as I'm try to start it and looking at the MSD 7AL2 box the Green LED lite is not flashing which indicates no power to the coil

So now I've either got a blown module in my Mallory Unilite or my MSD 7AL2 box took a dump

So I had to call Auto Club to tow my Camaro home and seeing all the other car show participant's looking at me I felt embarrassed having to tow it home . Now it looks like another day in the garage troubleshooting the wiring to the box , coil and distributor

    Lucky me !!!! It's only money ..... Right ???:spending::annoyed::facepalm:

@Tacoma Mike .... any help diagnosing problem would be helpful !!!

HEI Ignitions suck they lose spark energy up in the higher rpm rev limits plus their modules are extremely sensitive to voltage spikes / surges and fail very easy . A GM HEI is very archaic poor design

Already looking at a MSD Pro Billet mech adv small body magnetic pick up distributor or might spend a little more $$$ and go crank trigger

What was nice was all the car show participants wanting to help diagnose or fix my Camaro so I could drive it home . Also the pic I posted of that Peterbilt , the owner was willing to go home and get his trailer so I get my car back home

Haha. The lady across the street passed away and the house is up for sale now. I haven't gone down there in a very long time, but I used to tear the catfish and hybrid up down there. We would even lock the kayaks up on the dock sometimes.

Morning Chuck! Hope you find the problem, and it’s a simple fix :fingerscrossed:

That’s a nice camaro you have

Speaking of ignition, I installed a TRD push start switch yesterday evening.

What size tires are you running on your Tacoma? Thanks.

Better it happened there and not on the road.
    Check wiring
    Check Power and ALL GROUNDS
    Easy stuff first.
    Then
Lay another box down and try it.
Plug in another coil and try it.
    If not
Then the dreaded test of seeing if the rotor turns.
    Ohm the pickup.

Once those are up and running and The wiring is solid it’s modules.

We lost a box at Watkins Glen. Same thing. Ran good in practice. Wouldn’t fire off for Qual.
Ran to the truck and piggy backed another box with zip ties. Ran like that the whole weekend.
Once it’s fixed get real fancy and run dual boxes with crossover switch lol LIKE NASCAR. More conversation starters.

It sucks totally and everyone there has seen it or has it happened to them.
The only thing I would be embarrassed about is if it was my fault cause I didn’t install it right.

    Panic Button ?
Makes it easier to push your button.

Never been a fan of push button start.
Way to much extra things going on to make it happen.

    Plus IMO

Push buttons start and rocker switches belong in race cars..
