Looks like where the rear view mirror mounts. Cracked and pulling away from the glass. Not good.

Looks like somebody torqued the mirror arm and cracked the glass.

That's what I thought. The black coating/plastic sure looks like it.

I've seen it a few times, usually when someone is replacing or tightening the mirror. They grab on, pull or twist and there goes the glass.

He's quick to blame Toyota for a bad windshield but no explanation why the mirror was taken off in the first place.

No guys, Toyota forgot how to produce windshields and also lowered quality on third gen so the mirror was unable to handle his using a jackhammer to clean it. It’s all Toyota’s fault.

I got on my tacoma on a normal day and when I adjusted my rear-view mirror the crack appeared with a simple movement. I think there is a problem with these windshields of the tacomas 2016

So you simply adjusted your mirror, and the windshield cracked?

No jackhammering during cleaning, no hulk torqueing the mirror arm, no forcing the mirror off... just adjusting it.

I totally see why people would call you out as a liar and a whiner, and that Toyota has absolutely no fault in something like this.

I'd be completely ok with it too man, just suck it up and move on .

Lol, one thing you've probably learned by this point on TW - just deal with it privately and don't complain about anything on here. It just brings hate.

Good luck, and for the record I'd be pissed if I adjusted my mirror and that happened.

    Cheers

A one off problem with your windshield doesn't mean all windshields have problems. You do realize that, right? It could have just been a manufacturer abnormality.

Don't go crying out that all windshields have a problem. This is why your warranty exists. Use it and move on.

There's a thread around here somewhere about 3rd gens and bad windshields. Mine cracked on a paved road, no change in temp, with no one around (3rd shift).

    Is what it is

You guys dont know what happened,so stop judging the O.P,Toyotas quality is starting too get terrible, and their quality control leaves a lot too be desired. The windshields on these trucks are garbage and have been for awhile, both my 15,and 17 Tacomas have thousands of tiny knicks in them, just plain cheap windshields is what it is.

I think you’re confusing “Toyota has poor quality windshields” with “you drive in areas where you get a lot of debris thrown at your windshield.”

I’ve seen hundreds of Tacoma’s and I’ve never seen one with a screwed up windshield like you’re describing, and you have 2.... I bet it’s your own road conditions. I bet your grill and hood have the same knicks on them too.

Please stop driving behind dump trucks full of gravel.

OP. Take it to a dealer. Should be ok. Or call safelite, it’s what they do.
