Good advice. I remember the first time I had to find that ladder at 2am, still half drunk, barefoot, pouring rain. I never leave home without a big gatorade bottle now.

I know that spot. I hung a hammock very very close to that spot, last year.

 

I go out there all the time, normally camp near the end of the campground. But I love that place! Hope to see you out there.

What is the model of that tent? I've been looking for something similar to this.

 

Thats a Rightline bed tent. Theyre pretty rad. I like them because there is no bottom, so when you pitch it, you dont have to empty the bed.

I actually have one for a long bed, unused, that I was going to post in the for sale section. PM me if interested

 

I've always wondered about these. Because of the bottom, you don't have to empty the bed, but you still have to get enough stuff out of the bed so that you have room to lay down, right? It just seems counter-productive to me, to each his own.

 

yeah, depends on your setup. if im alone. i just move everything to one side, sleep on the other. or pack it with that setup in mind.

 

It worked well for us a few times, but doesn't leave room for my big dogs, so we're likely going to do something financially stupid soon... otherwise it's worked well in dry and rain for the few trips we've taken it on.

All the rest of the stuff we brought with us was in the back seat, so all that was in the bed was the cooler (pictured as a step in the original image) and a rolled up memory foam mattress. We kept it super light. Although, we did have to pop the tonneau cover off, getting total setup time to about ten minutes.

Just got my first roof top tent this past weekend. It’s a Tepui Ayer. I’m stoked to go camping in it for the first time!
Would like some suggestions on new gear to get for truck camping and landover style stuff. I have a custom made rack that has a bracket welded on for a rotoplex fule can and a skyjack for off-roading. Are those worth having? Not crazy into going to places where I’d need the jack but never know.

As for truck camping and overlanding stuff, take your time and purchase what you "need" as you go.
However, be sure to pack common sense, as this will certainly get you out of more situations before they become situations.
Time and experience will dictate what you will "need" going further.
