Okay who knows something about Jeeps? I’m fixing my friends 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a leaky power steering pump and while inspecting around it, I broke this strange plastic tube which appears to be a breather or vacuum line.

It’s connected to I believe is a diaphragm on the fuel rail? The other end of it is connected to the intake manifold. It’s hard plastic (appears to be ABS) and was brittle so just shattered when I touched it.

It’s broke right next to the text on the manifold that says “FIRING ORDER” and it goes to the fuel rail. It’s a small narrow black line.

Any idea what this part is, or how I can describe it to a GM parts department? I want to say it’s a pressure equalization tube?

This thing is really cool. Solid Axle, but I believe it’s AWD.

Just cut some vacuum hose and make a 1" slip joint.

That’s the plan. I’m just trying to figure out what it’s purpose is exactly.

That's the FPR it is vacuum referenced.
Also GM wont have the part. Try Chrysler or Dodge or Jeep.

My friend would probably sell the Jeep to me for really cheap. I wonder how bad using the Cherokee would be for a SAS.

Oh that’s the plan. Once we get the Model 3 the Merc is basically going to be scrapped.

I am assuming it’s an important part? What is the full part name so I can buy a new one?

Fuel pressure vacuum line. Id just use a piece of vacuum hose to splice it back together.

Will do. Should I replace the whole thing with vacuum line, or just splice it back together?

Can the vehicle run without that vacuum line?

It will run either a little rich or a little lean without that line.

Eh. Not like it has good fuel economy anyway.

I’ll go drive down to the local Chrysler dealer and see what they say

I am a breakfast person, I love breakfast places. I always find the best breakfast when I go on trips. But two of my favorites I can't visit often... Moab Diner in Moab, UT is awesome (staff is great, food and portions are great, and awesome scenery inside and outside) and I love me some Jimmy's Down the Street in Coeur d' Alene, ID (uber cheap, old diner feel, family owned, hungry lumberjack size portions)
