Get a rear bag, you’ll have more control.

So do I, most of the time, sitting Indian style with my ruck sack in my lap and pushing my arm and grip down into it, going out to 1000+ !!! so the grip lands perfectly on the sack. The intended purpose of getting it was definitely not to be sitting on a table top like most

Speaking of 1000 yards just qualified with a range so I can shoot 1000 yards anytime with them. Had to do 5/8 at 250, 3/6 at 500, 2/6 at 750 and 1 at 1000. The RO was a really good guy and had me do more than the required shots because he was having a blast spotting for me.

Used my savage 10t-sr in 6.5 creedmoor with vortex viper hst 4-16x44 and a cheap bipod. This was on factory ammo too. Hornady black 140 gr bthp

:thumbsup:The best part about getting into those kinds of distances, is the massive amount of dead time between trigger break and impact!

I don't shoot enough distance to justify a rear bag, I've never seen a range (other than mine) around here that has more than 100 yards, right now I only have 180 yards, by the end of July I'm hoping to have a lane cut where I can shoot 400-450.

I live in Mayberry, we don't have gun shops we have pawn shops that carry a decent selection of guns, I was just taking it by there to show it to a buddy of mine who works there and thought I'd see how much they would offer me while I was there.

Rear bags can be utilized at any distance (50 yards and so on) and are certainly worth their weight in gold when bench shooting, more importantly when zeroing in scopes if you don’t own any kind of vice or lead sled.

I have a wedge bag that I use when setting up traditional rifles that is absolutely my go to position for stability , in fact in the photo of my RPR and magneto speed chronograph you can see both bags underneath

That’s a good idea, hopefully it keeps the numbnuts from using their 800yd dope to shoot 200yd and end up punching holes in the neighbor’s shed.

They have an entire section that you have to be qualified with the RO in order to shoot at and that's where all 500+ targets are. Once you qualify they give you a card showing you qualified with him. One of the things was that if you shot clear over the berm or hit the dirt way in front it was an automatic DQ. It was too hard to qualify but that's because I had a good rifle and a good scope. One guy had an AR 6.5 creedmoor and a leupold scope that didnt have exposed turrets. I dont think he knew they had them under the cap but the RO only let him shoot to 500 a few times with him watching.

Haha I know! I was shooting at 1000 and could see exactly where the bullet landed a few seconds after I pulled the trigger  I had to look out of my scope to really appreciate how far that was.

I have a Mosin Nagant I paid $100 for 10 years ago. Shoots dead on at a couple hundred yards using Iron sight. Ammo is cheap, rounds are powerful.

Yea the RO was telling the guy that too. He said he needed a better optic if he was going to qualify. He told him to check Optics Planet for a good scope like vortex and I said to check Cabela's bargain cave too. That's where I got mine.

    Wish I had a Mosin Nagant for $100. That's a hell of a deal.

I never new that at the time. I turned 18 and wanted my first gun. It was the cheapest at the time from Big 5. I've been using it at ranges pretty frequently over the years. With a good cleaning and decent ammo, this thing will never fail.
