Thanks for all the well wishes boys. I’ve had to put dogs down in the past but never my moms dog, never the dog that was with her when my pops past, and never had to have the death talk with my daughter, rook dad. I think that combo is what made it so hard this time, not saying it’s ever easy.

But that dog did his job and them some, appreciate the heck out of him. Don’t think I’ll ever forget that moment this morning telling my daughter that “Noah” won’t be at grandmas today because he went to heaven to be with grandpa, my daughter won’t remeber it when she gets older, but that moment will last with me forever. Even in death that crazy yellow lab is making memories. Good dog.

Nicely done. Tough go round there, but sounds like you've "sucked it in" and made it through.

Our black lab is "scheduled" to see the vet for his last time next week. Dude is 15+ and has been the best dog I have ever owned. Reading your post has made it rather humid in here, thinking about ours and that I've got to put him out of his pain. Great protector, always wanted to please us, and just did a lot of things that make him special. He followed my wife everywhere, and it's really tough on her...I'm being strong in person, but damn, I look at him and just get all emotional for him. She wanted to schedule it, I just want to guy to not be in pain any more...but it is "her" dog. Of course he looks like a great dog when his dog roommate is a pug (not a fan of that one...despite the popularity in our house), but he has been an awesome dog.

Now, I've got to gather myself up, haha. This Pongo on a good day. Love this guy 758D93B7-1AA9-440A-A638-419DA068A001.jpg

Yesterday was Sydney's last checkup following her CCL operation in March. She's healing nicely and released from all restrictions, though we're continuing a daily exercise routine to help regain leg strength. It's great to see her back virtually to her old self. Better yet, she's allowed to do stairs again. I can finally move out of the downstairs guess bedroom and back to my own bed!

Did you mean she had ACL surgery? Reason I asked our Akita was done in March.

Our dog had to get her CCL done twice cuz the vet didn’t do the first one right.
Needless to say we changed vets and got the TPLO done the second time around.
Worth every penny to see my dog back to running around and such now that she’s all healed up.
Took damn near two years because the first surgery wasn’t done right.

Yeah not a good situation. Our Akita had is left leg done TPLO in 2014 and now just had his right one done. He had a set back. His leg got infected and after all the medication his leg is doing better.

Poor fella! Glad his leg is doing better now.
Infection is always a risk with any of the CCL surgeries. Our new vet thought that the first one didn’t work because it had gotten infected. Turned out after he went in to see that it had never taken in the first place. Our old vet used 40lbs strand with 100lbs crimp...

We’re pretty much expecting Min’s orther leg to go at some point... :/

Yeah, We thought he would be ok with his other leg until he was running and playing with the other Akita and he came up yelping. He could not put it down. Read up on and also talking with other dog owners saying the same thing. Usually they hurt the other one. Hopefully yours will be ok and not hurt the other.

Yeah, thanks. It's a hell of a downer. For one, there's repeating the whole three month process we just went through. Second, I was planning to take her on a wheeling trip in Colorado in August. Looks like that's not happening.

    Double shitty.
Yeah the healing process sucks so much.
I felt so bad for my girl when she had to do it twice in less than a year.

He gets lots of walks you can tell. Love to see dogs with muscle like that rather than overweight couch potatoes.

Trying to keep both of us lean. It's working for one of us. I will let you guess who.

In all seriousness though, he is an impressive specimen. I swear to you he can jump 8 feet in the air from a stand still. You would never guess that he is part Corgi! Well, maybe the ears give it away.
