I take public transit to work so fuel is not really an issue. Full size all the way. My tacos were sweet, but Dbl cab tundra is not much bigger than 4dr taco and back seat space is the same. Used tundras are a better value than the taco IMO (excluding fuel haha).
Hardly ever offroad so taco awesomeness is not required.

Yeah, definitely some regrets... I'm a big guy and I find the interior of the Tacoma cramped and uncomfortable. Towing capacity is pretty weak, but that's expected out of a mid-size V6 powered truck. I'll be trading it (along with my car) soon for one of these new 1500 diesels from one of the big 3. Most estimations put them at having the same MPG as my 6-cylinder car, enough power to handle towing my boat easily, and 6,000 Jeep as well, which the Tacoma definitely can't do.

The Tundra in my mind was never an option. It has such a dated design and an engine that can't provide appropriate fuel economy when compared to new trucks.

At the time, I didn't "trade-down" from a 1500, and there weren't any 1500s that I wanted that I could realistically afford. So in a sense, no regrets, because I never considered any of these bigger trucks as options at the time of purchase and I made the best choice possible given the options at the time.

I asked the dealer if I could have a ‘18 for the weekend and he said they don’t let trucks out overnite. I wanted to load it up and take it to the cottage this weekend. He said I could have one for a full day. Will do that next week and make a decision.

I know one person with 3rd gen double cab, long bed variant. He said its a very long truck. So that may negate the maneuverability 'pro' people have been taking about. Depends on your driving I suppose.

Doesn't seem like its that much more on paper, but he says its noticeable.

I can also relate. I have had full size both for personal and my business for 26 years. 1 F450, 1 F350, 4 F150's and 2 Lincoln Navigators. They were all fantastic vehicles and I cant say anything bad about them. However, the kids now have trucks of their own trucks and I'm selling my business and going to work in a different field. My need for full size vehicles is over. My new job will require me to drive 13-17 thousand miles a years so the gas savings will be significant. My new Tacoma is MUCH easier to park, maneuver in parking lots and traffic, wash, wax and park in our garage at home. It just makes life easier for me/us. No regrets at all.

Well, I wasnt going to wait on the new Ranger, I needed a midsize for this new job this year. Also, my brother has always been a huge Toyota fan and has had many over the years. He bought a new '18 in Jan. so I was able to spend some time in his and really liked it. Not to mention, the high resale value, legendary reliability and the possibility of getting 20-22MPG around town. I'm having a blast in it actually. I feel like I'm in a cockpit of a F-15 now. When I drive my daughters F150, it now feels like a Winnebago. It was just the right decision for me. Everyone is different.

I like my 17 Sport DCSB but not in love with it. Went from 2015 F150 SuperCrew and miss the size, room, power, everything. Got a great deal on the taco and needed to cut costs so I could help a family member out financially for a bit. When my lease is up, it is probably back to an F150 in some form.

I came from a 2005 Tundra that I loved! I really miss the torque at low rpm's. For me the biggest con with the Tacoma is the gear box. The Tacoma is constantly hunting for the right gear and that drives me crazy. It wants to shift into a higher gear constantly and then shifts back down and up and down and on and on.... Add a lift and some 285's and you'll loose your mind in hill country. I mostly drive in S mode and don't let it have 6th gear. Probably will get a shift sense pro at some point. In my opinion Toyota really screwed the pooch with this gear box!:frusty:

Occasionally while pulling my trailer up hill with a head-wind I start thinking about buying a big 6.7 diesel. As soon I hit the the trails all those thoughts go away.
