At first we were thinking it had gotten broken and after adopting him the vet never said anything about it being genetic. I’m certain now he was born with it and that’s why he wound up in a shelter / rescue situation. I love him all the same so it doesn’t matter to me as long as he’s not in discomfort. He doesn’t care at all that it gets touched- except “hey ahole that’s my tail” like you said. Thanks for confirming our suspicions.

We had a cat that was diabetic as well. We gave her insulin twice a day for close to 10 years. She took it pretty well. Just gave her breakfast or dinner and then gave her a little poke.

well this has been a tough week for Suki. Started the week eating in the morning and then vomiting within an hour of eating. After a few days of that quit eating and very lethargic. Took her to the vet and he suspected a blockage of some kind. Took X-rays and it showed something very faint and grainy. Began treating her with laxitone but things only worsened. Another vet visit yesterday and recommended surgery. So this morning we dropped her off for an exploratory surgery and we were both heart broken leaving her there not knowing what’s going to happen. There’s nothing about this that’s certain but at this point it’s just not going to get better. This has and will be very expensive but we’d get a second on our house if it meant her getting better. I’ll try to post back at the end of the day.

Hopfully it's just gastroparesis of some kind or even better something they can scoop out and keep an eye on. I'm sorry to hear about this; I'll be checking back tonight after work, I hope they find out what's wrong.

Our vet never mentioned that condition so I’ll have to read up on it while I’m stressing out. I’m just trying to keep busy grocery shopping, hardware store and tire rotation on my dodge. Thanks for the thoughts. Suki is just one of those cats...plus we don’t have kids.

This is my Gf's cat. She found a box on a trail with 6 very new babies 10 yrs ago and she kept them all alive. He was the ugly duckling and smallest one of the bunch. When she moved in after all those years raising Stumpy He has slowly turned on her and is now my buddy. The name Stumpy is because he has a 3/4 tail.

Beautiful cat! Siamese and Tacomas go hand in hand. Pretty sure I’ve posted this pic before- sorry.

Heard back from the vet and she’s coming out of anesthesia and recovering. Good news/bad news is they didn’t find anything out of the ordinary- no obstruction foreign or mechanical. Very small lesion on the upper part of the large intestine. He said maybe something she ate poked through. Since he was in there he took a few samples for biopsy. Should get results from those by Tuesday. He just said now the main thing is getting her to eat either voluntarily or forceably. Not sure if she’ll be able to come home tonight but when wife gets home we’re going to see her either way. Could be anything at this point but I’m just so relieved that her belly wasn’t full of toumors. That was my biggest fear. Wife is off for the summer now so she’ll get whatever care she needs. I’ll post back with anything new

Thanks for the well wishes! She’s home now but totally out of it and is just sleeping in her carrier. The vet wants her dropped back off in the morning to continue fluids and start iv antibiotics. They don’t have staff there after hours so he said it would be better for her and us for her to be home at night. Time will tell I guess.
