plus its not the spindle thats flexing. No way that thing is. Its 1'' of solid steel..im mean okay it might be deflecting a bit. But the real movement is the bumper itself as the spindle is just inlaid in 3/16s plate. THATS where the flex is. I can watch mine move by moving the arm when its open. Its really the bumper itself. Which is why most designs are double sheared so to speak in a sense the lower part is put in plate vertically through two holes. Then you can use an actual double shear spindle and have 3 points of contact too.

Mikes can't be like that as its so tight to the truck so the spindle is mounted vertically in the plate.

not sure its worth finding a "shock absorption" thing. I still think just using the jack like in the photo you posted with bumper will flex enough already...we already know it flexs! haha

Pindale is nice, gotta have money though. I'd recommend Wyo over MT. However, jobs are harder to find and such and its a lot lower population. But thats nice and cost of living is much lower.

MT is kind of like CO right now in terms of its the place to be...though not near as bad. Our harsher winters still keep lots of people at bay.

Wyo has more public land though with more easy access to cooler places as well I think.

Lander, Cody/Powell, Sheridan are my top choices. Not really near any big lakes but a few here and there that are smaller that are great to go swimming in when its 90º. All are near mountains though or right next to them. I grew up in the big horn basin and I was basically 1.5 hours from 4 mountain ranges in any direction. Star Valley might be something you'd like if you liked Pindale. Its VERY remote but god damn its pretty. Also one of the more expensive places though.

MT wise..theres the 3 big citys so to speak, Missoula, Billings, and Bozeman. Bozeman being a huge hot spot right now, getting the nick name Bozeangeles..small towns..theres a ton. Philipsburg area is super cool. I like Livingston as well, pretty sweet river valley. However people can't afford to live in Bozeman so they are commuting from Livingston and thats driving up prices.

Lots of other cool small towns in MT.

Either way, be ready for long harsh winters in both Wy and MT. I know you're in CO, but its a different kind of winter up here.

Awesome! Thanks. We really like the looks of kalispell, MT but are quickly realizing that it is becoming overcrowded like Colorado which is why we are starting to lean more towards WY. Just not sure what we would do for work.

    What do you do now?

Its not easy finding great work in Wy i'll admit. But its a great place. I miss it, wish I could live there and still keep my job I have in MT.

Kalispell is nice, but getting pretty big. Also hope you like snow! haha

Yea Pinedale can be a little pricey. The running joke is the billionaires kicked the millionaires out of Jackson, and they all went to Pinedale. There are lots of great places to live in Wyoming. What do you do, what kind of work would you be looking for? That could affect the decision of where to go. Unless you are independently wealthy. In that case, come to the Sheridan area, I could use a rich friend. :D

If it was only just flexing/deflecting and going back to its original shape, I would not be too worried about it. But that's not the case here. The top of the spindle is starting to move away from vertical, notable when the swingout is closed. It is only slightly out at this point. Maybe an 1/8" out of vertical right now. But I would like to prevent it from moving further if I can. Supporting it with full weight may help.

There are actually three school districts in the county. District 1 is Dayton, Ranchester, and Bighorn. District 2 is Sheridan, and District 3 is Claremont.

For the last 4 years I have been doing custom home electronics in high end houses. Have been thinking about making a switch to being an electrician. Also good with wood working. We will be traveling around in a travel trailer all summer long looking at places.

Probably a decent demand for that in the Pinedale area.
Pretty good demand for that everywhere.
If you find an area you kind of like, but are wondering what the people there are like, just go to a kids sports event. In the summer it would probably be soccer, but during the school year I recommend high-school sports. Observe the parents and see how considerate, or not, they are toward the other team as well as their own children. It can give you a good look into what kind of people they are. Most in Wyoming are great, but not all.

ah well much be #2 then I think..not sure though.

Well plenty of electrical work Im sure. Idk about high end home electronics. Probably could do that in Pindale/Jackson..

HA! Thats a great idea. Especially because HS sports are so important in Wyo hahaha certainly some places with assholes..but they are everywhere haha

Yea anywhere can have one, but even then you can watch and see how the other parents handle that one asshole. That can also be enlightening.

I haven't been up there in almost a month. Still lots of snow then. They've got Hwy-14A open though, so it must not be too bad. I'll be up there on the 15th and 16th helping out with the Bighorn Mountain run and let you know.
