Mine don’t squeak either and are a more established product, and are cheaper last time I checked.

Have they been in business since 1941? The folks who built mine run a family owned business open since 1941. They ship across the country, and probably further, making springs for every vehicle they can from pickups to big rigs.

There's something to be said for marketing.

A price difference of 150-200 bucks roughly. @Redmann your response?

Edit: the battle for the right leaf springs continues

Maybe? I don’t know. Another benefit to dakars is more, thinner springs leading to a more compliant ride and better flex off road. Doesn’t matter which springs @bfeth buys, just stating facts about the springs themselves

So I have the heaviest deavers and like them ok. The biggest flaw I see with both deaver and Dakar is to achieve lift they just added more leafs. The ones Joe sells and the Dobinsons are a 4 or 5 leaf pack with more arch. I have seen Joes in action with a good amt of load on them and they are flexy and can.hold a load well. If I could do it all over again itd be ancoin toss between the Dobinsons and Joe's springs.

    Well since you asked

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bfeths-build-bs.520332/

The cap I have on now will become an overland cap with a tire carrier yet to come + fab four rear bumper + slide out drawer much like Tacomasteve has going on + fuel + solar panel. So with all that being said what does everyone think

@Bocsy44 sorry for taking over your thread buddeh!

I still need to get with you on my custom set up to see if they can make it for me. Plus it'd give me an excuse to come up there to pick them up.

I'd like to get your heavy springs and then a set of the Dobinson heavys and do a comparison. Now if only I could get them for free to do that review:anonymous:

Even though they have more leafs at less spring rate per they won't be able to achieve the same cyclic length from flat to full droop. The advantage of a higher arch spring is it has a longer flex cycle. If you order a set of pure off-road springs from Alcan(the leader) then it'll only be 1 or 2 leafs in a pretty large arch. Also you have to match the hanger length correctly to achieve the greater flex capability. Deaver and Dakar made springs to be comfortable on-road with good weight carrying capability but are a bit of a compromise offroad in terms of flex. The more leafs the more they restrict themselves in terms of flex due to total length, compounding spring rate, and friction. The less leafs even though their initial spring rate is higher it's much more linear. Hope that kinda makes sense.

Doesn’t really make sense but I’ll trust you! All I know is I can droop out completely with an 11” shock and still have some more leaf travel to go, which is plenty good off road.

Same here but if you ever see single leafs in action many those things are wild if we had enough room with our stock mounts they could probably flex out a 13" shock

Here for the build part of the thread. Did you ever get the parts from the living room on the truck?
