So I had the tweeters in and was slappin Vivaldi’s four seasons through downtown. The highs are pretty clear but as soon as I got on the freeway the road noise drowned out most of the highs. My truck is otherwise 100% stock.

When installing the kicker door speakers did anyone add any sound deadening? Is it even effective for driving something like this truck? In my old age I think I need something relatively quieter.

I used to have a wrangler like 10 years ago and ran topless and no doors most if the year. I did have a decent system but I really just cranked up the volume to deal with wind and tire noise. :anonymous:

    all tore up already
Didnt bother with battery. Pretty rough reinstalling covers, unless you really damage the harness I dont see the airbag going off. But dont blame me if your experience differs from mine

You'll need a wire harness from somewhere like ********* and an adapter or backstrap to mount the tweeter. The stock wire plug has 4 wires, two are positive and two are negative. The ********* harness will make it plug and play, use the picture of their wiring as a reference of which one is + and -. On the ********* harness, solder the two + wires to the + lead or wire on the speaker side and then the two - wires onto the - lead/wire.

I had R1t-s Fosgate tweeters in before I added an amp, they sounded better to me than the kickers. Total cost to put them in was about 75, so a little less than the kickers.

You can do the speakers without unplugging the negative battery cable, just dont have the keys in the ignition. Speakers aren't on a constant supply. Do be careful though, if you contact anything in the process of working on the truck that has a constant 12v you very well could short it. Honestly though it takes a minute to disconnect the battery.

Did the tweeters yesterday, sounds better then stock, worth it. I didn't realize you have to set the sound settings for every tuner mode. XM, FM, AM have separated setting for sounds.

Yep. Found out the hard way in my wifes Rav4 the volume doesn't carry over. She must have turned it down all the way when on XM, flipping through radio, the normal stations were fine, but we just assumed XM was out. Went on for a week or so. Decided to call XM, they sent a new signal, nothing. Then for whatever reason we turned the volume dial, magically it worked!

I'll tell you that after installing the fosgate speakers I got from elduder, they literally overpowered the rest my stock system, so I did what any normal person would do, and got more new speakers.

Those tweeters rock to a newbie audiophile.

Did the Subaru tweeter swap today and it's everything people said. Much better sound clarity and took about 20 minuets.

Installed today. Plug and play. 20 minutes in and out. Harness pulls right out and plugs right in. Side by side comparison equals what you would expect in quality. (Looks and sounds much better) Hows it gonna be by Third Eye Blind was the first song post install. Me likey.

Hardest part was reaching/loosening the second bolt (closest to windshield) on each speaker. But not a huge PITA.

On that note. Does anyone have a recommended audio mid, treb, bass setting assignment with these new tweets?

Anyone know how to get these covers back on for the passenger pillar/handle?

They'll go. Just be easy. Spin around and move to where they need to go. You might have to take several runs at it. At no point did I over apply pressure.

Just keep trying and they will go in place. Definitely do not apply too much pressure as those little tabs can bend.

Seconded. I had to unbend one of the tabs on the lower cover. Gentle!

Move them into position where the 3 tabs line up; you should be able to eye-up all 3 (IIRC); once lined up push the cover in slowly with your thumbs.

I bent one. The one near the tether. Once I straighten it out and carefully inserted it first, it all went together nicely. At one point I thought I'd need to put a drop of superglue where the offending tab was but I'm glad it didn't come to that.
