    FM update soon

the TCU file controls transmission fluid pressure, shift timers based on temp, things like this.

The new TCU file will have changes for :
upshift timing delay (all gears). Shift timing lowered based on temp so the transmission feels less laggy during high rpm shift
upshift timing when cold. To me the transmission feels a bit pooey until it's hot.
and some pressure manipulation (slighty) for 4wd

@OVTune "FM update soon" meaning FM will be updated to support both dongle and dongle-less with the same FM version?

took my truck on a road trip and had a couple of questions. I have your most recent update for the OVTune on my 2018 Tacoma. Here's what I noticed. When the truck downshifts to 4th, as in going uphill, it will stay in 4th even when I start going downhill or the road levels. For....a WHILE. However, I've noticed if I tap the gas as soon as I crest a hill or get on a level road it will upshift to 5th or sixth. I have 255/85/16 cooper discoverer ST tires but that is my only mod.

The factory setting is that exact same way, has nothing to do with what OVtune has done. Drives me nuts when it sticks itself at 4k rpm for way longer than it needs to. Also hate how it likes to downshift and jump to 4k when a simple single gear down would do the trick.

I see. Do you have a third gen as well? Thanks for the input by the way. Maybe Toyota will come up with a fix.

Not looked at this thread for a while.

Did I just read that there's a new TCU file coming?

@OVTune, just curious is there anything that you can do with the tune that would enhance the cruise control? I feel like a lot of issues with the truck sticking in 4th is when cruise is being used.

Nothing on cruise control yet. Once I get my truck back I will be finalizing the changes made to the 16 way 3D power demand tables. (development I talked about a long time ago.. the "power map"), which will be 1.05 release. It has taken a long time due to the complexity.

    and working on boost tuning.

@OVTune check engine light is on after shop put on bigger tires (running fine however).

Tune was loaded a couple months ago, I think I’m on the latest version. Love it.

Any idea if it could be tune related? Worth reflashing? Just asking before bringing to dealer so I’m prepped.

    Thank you!

What do the CEL codes say? You sure it's not the TPMS light?

    Autozone.

Or carista dongle with an app on your phone.

Or reset it using PCMflash and act like it’s not there (clear DTC)
