I believe Toyota killed the 4cyl with a 5 speed option for the 3rd gen for 2018. The only way I would end up with one at this point is to find a black or red '16 or '17 SR5 extended cab with this engine/tranny combo that has lowish miles and has been unmolested.

I think its funny how many people who own them complain about the ugly stock grille and replace it with something even more hideous (see below). And as someone else mentioned, why is the first thing people do to these things usually involve gutting the suspension? I mean its brand new. And if you venture into that forum, they seem to love putting the letters "TRD" on EVERYTHING. Shift knobs, door latches, tail pipes, radio bezel, the damn gas cap holder (which supposedly the "gas hole" is the best mod for those trucks, don't see whats wrong with letting the cap hang), door sills, nerf bars, bed tie downs. You name it, someone put "TRD" there.

Isnt it 5hp for every trd logo? They probably put so many on because stock the engine is gutless

If you ever venture over to the 3rd jen section you will also see guys talking about lifting the PRO. Its like why spend that much money on a PRO just to swap out its suspension? I think toyota did good with the PRO models and they are good in stock form. Why lift it more

Eh it's still stock suspension only so much they can do to it. Rides nice on the street and is pretty capable in the dirt, but not really long term comfortable.

Exactly. If I had a 3rd Jen I wouldn't screw with it until it was paid off. I only mess with my 1st gen because its old.

Doesn't the PRO suspension include Fox coilovers now though?

Yeah but its a brand new 40k truck, why start swapping everything out on them. I get it if you buy a used one maybe a base model 4x4 and start swapping stuff

Yup (well sorta, not as good as their full product), but the primary market is still people who will only or mostly drive it on pavement, so they're super spongy and like most stock shocks just fade. That's why I think these packages are dumb, people who are gonna need it will but the real stuff, other folks will be happy with cheaper suspension for pavement.

But like Sperrunner mentioned, why spend the extra 10k if your gonna remove everything that makes it worth that much more? Buy an SR5 and install new suspension and slap on a Pro grille and then you have a "trd pro" thats better than the real thing.

Some people have no sense, but does it matter if they have the cash? If I had the extra money to blow on the package and still get what I wanted (I wouldn't do it because the drivetrain would bother me, but suppose it didn't for a second) for afternarket stuff. I'd do it because other than 40k it has no real value if I can't use it how I want to, it's not a collectors item, it's not even rare. It would just be an expensive van if I couldn't have the suspension and interior upgrades I've come to rely on with the first gen. I buy vehicles for life and I don't leave them alone because they cost too much, if that was a concern you shouldn't have bought it.

Personally if i spent 40k on a new truck I wouldn’t want to go void all my warrantys.

In 10 years when I can actually feasibly own one, It will be an SR5. But honestly by then I would expect that I would need a larger truck so a GMC Sierra it would be. Gotta trailer a Rock Crawler (hopefully) somehow.

None of that voids warranties, that's a myth. Very few things actually universally void it and dealerships usually just use it as an excuse to avoid you.

Putting a Pro grill and wheels on your SR5 doesn't make it like a Pro or an Off Road.

In terms the Coyote 5.0. Yeah sure it's no LS, but it doesn't have to be it's in a better truck.

I'd buy a GM before I waste my money on another Ford.

Which having been a tech in the past I can't blame them. I mean bloody hell back in the late 90's I remember one co-worker destroying his second gear syncro in his GSR Integra and the second time the dealer told him to get bent no warranty
