Is there anyone in the central Pennsylvania/South York location that can help me get the rear diff fill plug off and put a new one on? I'm trying to save a $400 dollar trip to the stealership! For routine oil change and preventitive maintenance. I've already been told Advanced Auto Parts doesn't have a fill plug in there entire inventory. Way to go guys you can't carry a $4 Flipping fill plug. they have the drain plug. But not the fill plug. this darn thing is so seized up its like they welded the entire plug to the cover :frusty:

Have you tried spraying a penetrating oil a few times daily for a few days? I did that and used a piece of pipe as a cheater on my ratchet and it came off without a problem. Fwiw my bolt wasnt touched in 8 years prior..

ZEP45, a socket, and tapping the end of a breaker bar handle got mine right off but I’d use heat if you can’t get it off

Try tightening it a bit more first. You just need it to move a tiny bit before loosening.
You drilled a hole in the fill plug??? Your gonna need a huge extractor. Here's hoping it doesn't shatter...:fingerscrossed:

Weld a large nut to it through the center of the nut and use an impact.

You just might be better off having someone that has the experience and tools do it.

I’d be concerned about getting the metal chips from the drilling, out of the dif.

Would it be best just to take the whole rear plate off and spray it out good with something?

My pumpkin doesn’t have a rear access and assume all 2nd gens are the same. Would have to drop the drive shaft and get in from the front.

Along with penetrating oil, applying light taps with a hammer can sometimes cause the rust to break apart enough to break it free. Harmonics.

There is no rear plate, that's the housing?

Man, I though I had done some extreme stuff before, but this takes the cake, lol!

Removing a drilled plug with no extractor (worse case) is eazy sqeeezy orange peezy. Drill it close to the threads, use a dental pick to clear the threads.

There's no junk yards you can get one from around there?

Or, if you only need to get to the dealership, a buddy with a Tacoma who can park his for the day pull his, cover the hole, and let you use his for a few hours????
