been working crazy hours and haven’t had the chance to call Head Strong.

How much lift should I expect with this both front and rear?

    Ride quality VS factory?

I am looking for 2-3” evenely all around, keeping the slight factory rake.

I will only do Light off roading, but do a lot of highway/city driving for work.

Quality is very subjective, everyone has a different butt meter. It will be much firmer though.

So the real question is why bother with a lift at all. For your use there is no functional gain, and there is some potential for downsides. Just something to consider.

But calling Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road is the right conversation to have.

Mostly for looks, I think LBs with a slight lift look just right.

2.75 inches up front after settling.

2” in rear with overload leaf, 1.5” if you take it out.

    Nice document, very helpful.

Honestly- I’m not too sure in what the overload leaf does.

Can you explain and pros cons for using it?

I have the 885s with Progressive AALs and 5100s. Ride is very similar to stock OR. I have a Sport so HUGE improvement on just ride quality alone. Much stiffer = no lean no nose diving and more importantly the rear suspension isn't harsh anymore. Also got rid of my clunk in drive line from the axle wrap.

Off road it's good enough for what I do which is minimal. But I get in mud and off road occasionally so it's nice there as well.

Lifted about 2" all around. Took out my helper springs in the rear. I may put them back in when I change shocks again.

Do it. compared to your Sport suspension you have now - it's night and day improvement - it's not subtle. The Sport ride stock is HARSH. I couldn't stand it. Had to add hay bales to the bed until I got the new setup installed.

Basically, your suspension in the rear is a stack of steel bars that flex with bumps and when you add weight to the rear of the truck. They flex at a pretty consistent rate through the entire range of travel. (Simplifying- don’t flame me). The overload leaf is one more leaf that doesn’t do much in normal articulation, but if you load up a lot of extra weight in the bed (hence the name overload) it then adds a bit of stiffer suspension to try to prevent you from bottoming out. It’s like a safety net in case you load up the truck too much.

HeadStrong’s website says their AAL is designed to be used without the overload, but you can add it in for a little bit of extra lift. If you lift the front 2.75”, and you keep the overload, you’ll get 2” in the rear.

The front sits one inch lower from factory, factory rake. So if you left the overload in, you would lift the whole truck and keep a little rake like you wanted. Without the overload, your rake will be more than it is now

That's the same kit I have with the 2nd gen shocks. I like the ride even though it is a little more stiff. Still way better than a spacer lift

I just did this lift from Headstrong with 2888, SPC UCA and AAL and I think it improved the ride. I keep the overload spring in and has the factory rack, with out I believe it would have been level. But just like everyone says Marie from @HeadStrong Off-Road is very helpful.

    Great advice guys.

One more, from what I what I’ve read, the 877 springs should be right for me. Best ride quality and I am not adding weight to front- no plans for a bumper or winch.

    Am I correct?

If you’re not adding any weight at all I would’ve just gone with the 5100 shock itself and adjusted it to your desired lift height. But yes, you will be fine.
From your previous posts sounds like you’re going for looks, using spacers and blocks would’ve been your ideal kit to go with(strictly for looks).

Wouldn’t preloaded coils not be best choice?

Debateable. If you’re going for looks it wouldn’t really cause an issue. I have the 5100’s on mine adjusted to 1.5” of lift upfront with stock coils and it rises far better than stock and I don’t do hard core overlanding/off-roading but I am out on mountain trails almost every weekend and it handles absolutely fine.

You got a long bed... Get the Dakar’s and 888 springs with the SPC UCA kit.

    U won’t regret it

All great advice and perspectives. Appreciate all the input.

I’ve done the spacer and block thing to my previous full size trucks, and they never felt right. I wanna do it right this time.

I live in coastal florida, my off roading is limited to beaches and woods. No rocks here to climb. I think this lift will suit me for the life of the truck.

Before and after pics to follow in a few weeks.

    Well, here’s a before:

887 lifts you up a little more like 1/2" than the 885. Can Leave in the helper spring for level. Call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road, she will hook you up with the setup you desire.

Blocks are shit leave alone. Do yourself a favor. If you're paying someone to install this gear best to spend a little more for a PROPER suspension. Pay once happy all the time.
