2018 Sport, took it in for 5,000 mile service. Asked for the momentary turn signal to be raised from 3 to 7 flashes and the seatbelt chime turned off. Truck was returned with the courtesy signal set to 7 flashes but they were, due to liability concerns, reluctant to turn off the seatbelt chime.

After my comment that seatbelts were mandated but the chime was an option able to be addressed through Toyota programing, the service manager provided me with a printout and referred me to this web site:

    https://mechanics.stackexchange.com...-disable-the-seat-belt-alarm-on-a-2011-tacoma

The steps detailed on the dealer's copy were followed (see below) and, although the dash light still flashes the chime sounds only only on startup.

    1. shut the door

    2. turn the key on, set the display to ODO and turn the key off

    3. turn the key back on, press the reset button (on the dash panel) immediately

    4. hold the reset knob for 12..15 seconds and fasten the seatbelt

    5. xxxx miles should turn to b..on

Keyless entry, followed the same procedure but with foot off the brake, push the "start" button twice to activate the BCM.

Hope this helps, happily it worked for me.

Edit: Followup to Dewey7015's post- Truck is 2018 DCSB AT, tranny in park. Worked for me, second try. Good luck, Wucat.

I just bought the Carista app, now I'm able to change all the customizable options without visiting the dealer.

I just re-read the link and noticed it is for a second gen Tacoma. Honestly I just cut and pasted the instructions. I have belt extenders to avoid the chiming and never tried this until today. Multiple attempts here and "No-Joy". I'll just go back to the belt extenders.20180610_133519[1].jpg

Go to the junkyard and buy 2 seat belt clips. Several makes have the same pattern. Just trace pattern on a piece of paper and match them up. They charged me $2 for the pair.

Go to the junk yard and buy another door, put in while yours is open, chime off.

No DIY procedure for the flashes? I mean without the dealer or carista app? Does carista let you change the number of momentary blinker flashes? It seems I always have to momentary tap twice before I’ve merged completely or else the current number of 3 means I’ve already started to merge and only doing it as a courtesy and to avoise a lane change without blinking fine from the popo...

Carista does let you change this. I'm glad I bought it.

3rd gen needs the dealer to disable. They disabled mine. At first they refused and said it couldn't be done. I then refused to pick up the truck until they disabled. They called later that day and said it was off....

Take it to the dealer and demand it. They can do it.

I'm curious why anyone needs it turned off? Is it to get around having to wear your seatbelt? I can honestly say that would be a bad idea to drive around without a seatbelt. I was a paramedic/ firefighter in Las Vegas for 21 years. I saw more people die in car wrecks than I can remember. I can say this....I never unbuckled a dead body from a car that was in a wreck. NEVER. OK, I'm off of the soap box...carry on.

Moving the cars around in the driveway, backing the truck up to the boat launch, or drop a trailer and then park in the garage. That is why I use the extenders: Chime always off, and when I hope in to go actually drive on the road, I can still hookup the seatbelt.

Didn't work for me. 2018 TRD or with keyless entry.

Would love to turn this off, groceries can set off the alarm sometimes!
