Toyota Frame Rust Recall

I'm not happy. Picked up my truck from the dealer and almost ran into the door because they screwed up my brakes. I don't know if they didn't bleed them or didn't adjust the rear drums but the pedal went almost to the floor before I stopped.

Put it in reverse and my back up camera doesn't work, it's just showing blue in the mirror and nothing at all showed on my headunit.

I'm sitting in the dealer now waiting for "someone to take a quick look".

I know it's a lot of work but wtf! Check and make sure it's working before you give it back.

 

Geez I’m going to have nightmares about this shit

 

Hopefully the dealer where mine will be done will do a good job . They told me they have done at least 1500 frame swaps

 

Should be around $30 each

 

Somebody here told me my dealer did theirs and they were happy with it. Maybe they did mine on a Friday and wanted to go home?

I'm pretty pissed right now, I really don't know why they didn't check out before calling me and telling me to pick it up. Now instead of going home after work I'm sitting at the dealer waiting for them.

 

When mine gets done in a couple months I will be crawling all over it before I leave . It’s a 90 mile ride home !

 

So the second time they bleed the brakes and that fixed the soft pedal. They had to connect a plug to make the camera work. They give me the keys and say it's fixed, I drive off and a few minutes later my abs and traction control lights come on.

So for the third time in two hours I'm back at the G D dealers sitting here.

Boch Toyota south in Attleboro. I'll post back when they give me my truck back for the third time.

 

Update: somehow my ultra gauge triggered the abs and traction lights. They unplugged the ultragauge and the lights went out. They're test driving it now to make sure it works.

Anybody with am ultragauge ever have this issue?

 

I am in NH. I just got mine back from the dealer - a 2009 TRD sport 4-door - and am pretty happy with the result, however it did take 3 months to get it back.

 

Questions:

1. Is $535 in labor reasonable for a dealer to replace my front/rear suspension (front springs compressed/assembled), upper control arms, and front right wheel hub (fully assembled from @BamaToy1997)? If I have the dealer install everything, I wouldn't have to pay for another alignment after installing hub assembly (guessing ~$150) and they would cover the rental car until everything was done ($210 - 6 days @ $35/day).

2. If the dealer installs springs and struts (2018 OEM Hitachi front and rear) on my 2006, would I need/want to include any additional parts for the install?

Backstory: I did't tell the dealer I was getting new suspension, upper control arms and wheel hub assembly before they re-assembled the truck. After some back and fourth, they quoted me $535 for labor to install since they hadn't dropped the body back on the frame.

I'd say that's a pretty good price for all that. My dealer charged me $250 just for assembling the front spring/struts.

 

I got my truck back today .The dealer had it for two months. they gave me a new Camry to drive for the whole time . I had them put on a set of Bilstein TRD off road shocks. I wasnt charged for anything. My truck is like new . I am very , very happy !

 

Just picked up my 03 today after waiting 3 months for the frame. Everything seems as good if not better...so far. Feels good to have it back though.

 

I asked for this too and have received their list, but it's got all models and part kits listed. I've asked them to clean up the list and clarify if LCA's are included. It seems like the parts list has them.

Has your job been completed? How much "additional" upgrades did your dealer throw at you? I'm still a few weeks away from my Frame replacement...

 

My job was completed 120,000 km ago. Almost 3 years. I spent a bit over $1000 having them replace parts that were easily accessible.

 

What kind (how high) of Lift is showing in these pictures? Did you have the dealer do the install during your Frame R&R ?

 

This is the experience I am hoping for.

 

I'm guessing the recall repair is long over. Wish I knew this before I bought mine.

 

Pretty sure you have 12 years fron the date of first use..a 2008 should be good until 2019 or 2020
