Funny you said that @boatswain.l used to have a ton of old Kawi parts from all my builds back then. About 20 years ago l had a couple old guys come over to my shop one day looking for old Kawasaki 550 parts.They had heard that l hoarded parts.l'm thinking the whole time these guys are not riding jet skis! Sure enough they were building a river jet boat! That was the first time l came across a flat bottom Jon boat.Wish l would have started converting and building them back then.l would have made a mint.

Was the 550 a 2 stroke triple? I had a72 or 73 Kawasaki 500 triple then in 76 bought a KZ900. Got scared of riding around here somewhere near 1990 and stopped riding. In Maryland if you kill someone with a motor vehicle, and do not flee the scene, the fine is right around $100.

 

I heard if you just sharpen a stick and poke them real hard with it they will run off.

Yup! Lots of info. on that site, did a lot of reading looking for ideas before I did the mods.to the Tracker 1654 FB GRIZZLY. I didn't need to do too much to the 1648 Tracker GRIZZLY, but still can get some ideas from there on occasion.

 

No it was a 550 jet ski engine,2 cylinder,they can be either a piston port or reed.They set up great in a flat bottom boat

Evening All. Just got back from hospital with the missus. We have a small wrought iron folding table in the garage and it fell on the back of her ankle. Skinned the leg and cut down to the a Gilles tendon. Fortunately it didn't do any damage to the tendon. Six stitches later and we're home.
