What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Any tips for changing the power steering fluid without making a huge mess? I need to do mine too and didn't know if there were any tips or tricks for these trucks

1. Disconnect return line to reservoir. (Not the line that goes to the pump.)
2. Plug reservoir inlet and direct drain return line into a container. Fill reservoir with fresh fluid.
3. I used Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF.
4. Jack up front wheels off the ground.
5. Turn steering wheel (do NOT start engine) back and forth. This will pump ATF through the system. Refill reservoir as it drains.
6. After a quart I was getting clean ATF from the drain line so done.
7. Reconnect drain line and fill as necessary.

 

Did this minus disconnecting the return line. I used a little oil bottle pump and sucked the reservoir empty, added new Mobil 1 ATF, turned vehicle on, turned wheel back and forth, repeated until the quart of ATF was gone (3 iterations if I remember correctly). Maybe not as efficient as the other method, but my fluid went from dark and old to new pretty quick.

 

Doesn't hurt to add Lucas stop leak in the ps res too.....I use a Cajun injector syringe to drain res and then refill. Dry boots FTW. Also works swapping in a res of fresh brk fluid or to remove some if pushing caliper pistons back in when putting on new disc pads.

Fresh oem filter and Castrol hi mileage oil for mine this wknd.

What kinda did you use for the grill I thought about buying some amber / orange /

 

Dam, this would look good w/a lift. But alas just a tire rotation and a visual check of everything while the wheels are off.

 

DANG! Smart man! I’ve been looking at roof racks just for plywood and MDF. might have to look into these too

 

Didn't like the mounts that it came with? I don't have a rotopax yet but I'm going to grab one eventually and I have the same bumper.

 

Washed it and threw a quick wax on it over the weekend.

 

I'm not sure about the manual. I just used the conditioner that came with my canvas care kit from chemical guys. Scrubbed it up real nice then let the conditioner do it's thing. It's my first time actually cleaning my ST thoroughly.

I did use the supplied seam sealer once just because I could see bits of light coming through some stitching.

 

Redline Tuning hood struts and UNI filter installed this morning.

 

I changed spark plugs last weekend. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I waited a little longer than I should have. They were gapped at .62 and looked burned. Then on Friday after getting dinner, I go back to my truck and click, dead battery. So, I got to change it. It had 83k miles on it. I was trying to make it though summer or at least wait till a group buy started. Yesterday, I changed my oil. Today, I changed my diffs and washed/waxed my truck. Also, I added my flag and Bill Murray stickers.

 

Was invaluable when I hauled 12' decking boards home from Lowes a couple of years ago.

It's very adjustable...length, height, width. If what you're hauling is wide, you simply rotate the arms downward. It's rated for 750 pounds

 

Is there a DIY writeup on the UNI Filter?

 

I think, but all I did was remove the top screw with a T-25 torx driver, remove cover, remove foam filter, remove the end cap and slide on UNI filter, tighten filter clamp, then reinstall.

 

You need to remove the foam filter under the cover also.
