One mod away from marriage counseling
I had a 2007 DCSB OR when I joined here mainly to do some research. I recently traded up to a 2018 DCSB OR and finally did something to it. RCI rack and Tepui RTT.

My wife and I work a $^&% ton of hours. This is going to help us go camping more often and I'm excited about it. Now for better shoes and some sliders. Trying to stay away from lifts/armor/bumpers/winches/SAS conversions... for the sake of my marriage. You people make it hard to be good!

I now know why no one had posted a vid of reinstalling the end caps. A HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS.
You have to pry too get them back in.... took me almost an hour to get them back in and had to touch up the derp from me fucking it up trying to. Highly recommend if your gonna do this to pull the license plate lights and remove the whole top bumper piece, you will also need a hook pick or tiny fingers to get the two back snaps back in place. I'm hoping it will look better in the morning after my touch up dries. 20180610_221426.jpg 20180610_221426.jpg

Here’s a quick before and after about 40 feet from my garage. No headlights or fog lights on in either pic. It is definitely a little Night Rider-ishB8A7F7B8-3FC1-4295-AE64-D5123D886163.jpg60B1C577-51E9-43CF-B7B9-3F62A0524247.jpg

Funny, I remember when self-service started around here and everyone was complaining about having to get out of their vehicles to pump their own gas. :(

I was able to focus on the wheels again. I ended up buying some black Gorilla Lugs off EBay at the suggestion of @RobP62 (Thanks again). I also spent some time and painted the chrome Toyota logo on the hub cap. It came out well and I'd do it again. I'll ride with them off my truck for a couple days to truly adhere and harden up.

Also, what is the white chalky substance on the standard lugs in the last photo? It was only on the tire that I had repaired after a screw went through, so something the shop did. Anti-corrosive?

Also woke up and found my AVS vent visors arrived. Install was super easy. I know some have removed the "AVS" from the surface. What did it take to do so?

And a look from the inside with factory tint (soon...tint will be soon).

Are your new lugs spline drive? If they are, I think it will be safer to use the oem mag seat lugs with your oem wheels. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks great @orion808 ! Nice job! That painted Toy logo is the shit!

That's the first time in my 40 years of dealing with vehicles I've ever seen that on lug nuts. New to me :notsure:

You are 100% correct. Great call! Not only safer, required.

@orion808 did in fact buy the OEM style with the built in washer, he just got the cooler looking black version.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
I don't quite understand why any particular type of drive is safer than any other. I would think that so long as the nut was the right length and right seat and the hole had sufficient clearance for the socket... Could someone educate me, briefly?

Also, so long as we're on the subject, how does one remove those plastic center caps without breaking/cracking them? It LOOKS like the safest method is to take the wheel off and drive them out from the back.

The wheels I recently had installed have that type of cap and they really snap in place pretty securely. I've never had to deal with this type of cap before.

    Thanks!

Lawd have mercy.......my sphincter tightened up seeing that saw action.

I'd have to be heavily sedated to have someone break out a saw on my Taco.

You proceeded with a steady hand and no worries. Fearless Fender Surgeon !!!

Dude....I think my wife may be up to no good. Normally she'd be busting my chops to no let stuff pile up. She hates clutter...often known for throwing out new magazines that I haven't even read yet.......

I say this because for the last month or so I've been getting orders inbound from CaliRaised, Crutchfield, Redline Tuning, Harbor Freight and freaking Amazon, Amazon, Amazon. All these Taco mods are piling up in the corner behind my recliner.

It's starting to look like the iron throne from GOT....with loot and treasure all behind it.

She's been really understanding and seems okay with promises that the gear will be installed at some point as soon as a break in the work schedule allows.

I don't know what to make of this lack of pressure to get'r'dun. She's probably looking into some new jewelry or other such that will be sprung on me at some point.

    It's weird.

Today, for instance.....is a single day off......in between going between a string of regular and overtime shifts. I'd figured I'd get up....get some coffee and get to work on this backlogged mod stuff. She heard my plans and urged me to NOT do that. She wanted instead for us to simply go out on a date day/night.

Seems her only motive is to show off some new skirt and heels she's bought. This chic is like a fine wine, too.

I think I'll gladly hold off on mods....and just wash my truck and myself.....get some clothes on, strap on a 1911 and take her out for some fun.

    Life is good.

    Nice solution.

My wife has said the same about the mat sliding around on my '17. I'm going to hold off on anchors as I'm considering some replacement matts.

Yup. I cringed mighty hard watching the beginning of that video.

    Very, very nice.

    I really like those covers.

I'd have to do this, too......if I had a scoop.

    #scoopenvyisreal

I've had mine in place for over 6 months and use it multiple times a day. It is truly an excellent....must have mod.

I was somewhat skeptical about having to permanently redirect that a/c vent downward. It's been a non-issue even though I live in the hot Dirty South where heat and humidity are the norm for most of the year.....and I drink coffee year round.....driving around in the freaking heat sipping coffee in a black truck. It's been a non-issue.

    Excellent product from them.

    Bamsucka !!!!!!!

That glance back is what it's all about.

Very un-American. I think there is only one full-service gas station here in Austin, I went to it once about 12 years ago to try it out and it felt very weird just sitting there. The gas station is still there but I don't know if they're still full-service.
