You're going to be really upset when you do all this and then find out the police and credit card company have no interest in pursuing charges. Happened to my dad a year or so back.

It will probably be Home Depot that is upset. At least I get my money back. They won't get anything out of it. According to the Manager at Family Dollar the Forest Park police don't mess around with fraud up there and really go after the perps.

 

@TRD Tyler the odd thing in all of this is the strange car that sat at my mailbox on Thursday. It's unlikely they have anything to do with it but it sure is a heck of a coincidence that this happened 2 days after that. The Sheriffs dept knows about that and did make contact with the vehicle. My buddy told me where to direct the Forest Park PD should they want to talk to the Lee County Sheriffs department here.

HD writes off 10% of their weekly sales as loss - per store. That's $100,000 per week in a high volume store.

You know I read an article and thought about your post. People are requesting personal information be sent to your address and then trying to intercept it at the mailbox.

 

Oh well. I've been reimbursed so if they don't care that's on them. According to the bank, the transaction going thru twice means that the home depot messed up. I was told they probably entered the card number by hand, accidentally charging it twice. This probably put my account on alert thus sending me the text when they tried to use my card number at Family Dollar. The Family Dollar manager was really pissed when I talked to her. She said her store is targeted weekly. I'm sure it happens to a lot of stores in Forest Park Ga, not just hers.

 

Yep! This is why I called my buddy and exactly why they sent out a deputy to make contact. This could have happened for sure. I've checked everything credit wise and everything else looks normal. I think I just won the lottery that you don't want to win. I think my card swiped thru a scanner at some point last week.
