I’m not running the full pack now as I just took out the 3rd leaf from the top. What size of CB spacer did you use? The brass OME 3/8” one?

Yep that's the one. I needed it for full dakar pack when running constant weight, which puts me at about the same level as with no weight and 3rd leaf removed.

Wow! So you ran shims and the OME CB spacer to rid the vibe? What speed did you feel it at when you had it?

Ok so now I added the OME CB spacer and have 3-degree shims. The working angles are off by 0.9 degrees. The vibe is there but it is slightly less and feels different now. I’m not sure why the vibe would be better given my working angles are off more now...

    I’m lost

Also, today while in 4wd around 50 mph I experienced a weird vibe that only occurred when my foot was on the gas. It was unlike anything I’ve felt before, but still parabolic in nature

I can't remember exactly where my vibes were, I believe in the 15 or 25 to 40mph range. I actually had a chance to speak with an ARB tech who was at a total loss about the 3rd gen regarding these vibrations. He had customers who had the vibes on stock 3rd gen tacomas before even lifting. I basically tried a lot of different things until it was reduced/eliminated.

One thing you could try to determine whether it's drive-line angle is to progressively load your bed. I *think* this would effectively change drive-line angle more and more, and if you found a sweet spot you could measure and then reproduce using shim or CB drop at your normal travel load.

I have seen people have to use more or less than the OME CB shims provide, as well as more or less than the 3 degree axle shims. You might try adding washers on top of the CB shims as well to see if more CB drop would have more of an effect.

I spent the first year and a half tracking various vibrations down on my truck, so I feel for you, and wish you best of luck.

Thanks bro, it is at about the best it has ever been. I will keep playing with the CB spacing as I’m sticking with the 3 degree shims I got from toytec

Is swapping to a one piece shaft out of the question? Many have done it to eliminate the carrier bearing issue in older Toyota 4x4

You want the angles to be slightly off to compensate for axle wrap under load. Under load the axle will change the angles so a perfect angle won’t be when under power.

I thought about it but the strain on the transfer case is both worth voiding the warranty on the drivetrain

Current working angles with no CB spacer are .2-.3 different

After I got the bushing installed to replace the needle bearing. The vibe went away for a couple weeks and then when I was offroading in 4WD one day, it came back when I was on the highway driving home. FML

Has anyone noticed the driveline on these trucks is not straight? If you are laying down under the tranny and look down the driveline you can see the joint at the carrier bearing is slightly off-center. Is this supposed to be that way? When I loosen the bolts to move the carrier bearing I can move it left to right about 1/8 - 3/16".

The pinion nose is a little off center, so yeah the driveline isn't perfectly along the center line of the vehicle. The driveshaft halves should be pretty close to in line with each other though.
