I guess it depends on which features you're looking for.

The ones I mentioned are 100% confirmed working on a 16 T4R trail, as is being able to turn down the "unlock beep" volume, turn off headlight flash, and roll down windows on long press remote.

But yes. Carista is expensive. They offer a 3-4 day demo, however. You can flash using this, and it does not revert if you cancel the subscription before the demo ends (and pay nothing). Though I 100% support funding a developer if you get use and functionality from their products.

Interesting... I wonder why the discrepancy between the Tacomas (at least 2nd Gen) and the 4R.

    Bolded: I concur 100%.

I just want to monitor MPG, RPM, and troubleshoot codes. Basic stuff. I have an 01 so I don't have that fancy stuff.

Dunno. Was able to flash a no seatbelt chime onto a 3rd Gen, but it didn't have a ton of options like the 4R did. Without paying for it first, Carista will scan the ECU and give a list of what is changeable if anybody is curious. You just have to pay if you want to flash the change.

Not an expert though, and it's definitely a "Do so at your own risk" kind of thing.

OBD Fusion .... you have to pay for Tacoma "files" so it reads correctly but its not too expensive and has been very accurate. It can also read transmission temps with a bit of programming. If you ever want to read the transmission temps I can help guide you through the programming.

wasn't there someone here that did something with QuikTrip/ QT/ RaceTrack?

coming home last night, i saw a sign indicating that QT is moving into the abandoned Goodwill at New Hope & Bell in Cedar Park. Wifey squealed a little bit.
