    thats interesting.

They are so few and far between here that they just leave them as is. Hell I don't have service at work.

yeah I had that code (P0420) recurring for awhile last year, truck seemed to run fine but eventually the code kept coming back more quickly and started noticing power and performance issues...turned out my front cat was toast and the rear was not far behind. Toyota wanted over $2k for both, got a couple CA compliant Magnaflows for $600 installed.

Hopefully you aren't looking at a cat issue though

Oh I barely have service where I live, even though the whole subdivision is less than 15 years old. They only put towers in densely populated areas.

How are the magnaflow cats working for you? I’ll go that way (non CARB) if it starts losing power.

Non carb ones still work and flow better the carb ones have to kick ass to get a cert so I'd be confident in them.

So far so good, haven't had that code come back lol. No aftermarket cats compare in quality to the OEM ones but that's also why they are stupid expensive, but if I can get a few years out of these Magnaflows at least then I'll be happy.

Is this an issue because it's used outside the cab? I've seen (non-TW) forum posts claiming they're not only great, but basically the go-to choice for splices... maybe it was for interior lighting? I'd appreciate your insight

Recently Ive been getting rather annoyed with not having enough USB charging ports while using my 12V outlet, charge the gopro, phone, and another phone for maps/APRSDroid and I was asking for something to die.

On the later model Tacomas they actually have 3 12V outlets up front. I tried to source one of the trim pieces but haven't been successful yet. So here is a solution without needed to buy a trim piece at all.

Here's the area we are going to work with. Front trim piece in front of the shifter already removed. Coin/Ash tray already placed aside as well.

Here's where I drilled my hole, ended up fitting perfectly.

This is the bit I used. It was a little too big, but the closest one I had. It works and you can't see it's too big. Definitely don't use a bigger hole saw. 1.25"

At this point I was a little nervous because when I tightened the lock nut down it would strip before getting secure... Looking around my garage for a minute gave me the idea to use plumber's tape on the threads then retighten. Worked like a charm.

    End result.

Ive been pretty MIA the last week or so. But it’s been because I’ve been up to other things.
    1. I built a gaming PC because why the hell not 0D401C70-C0C2-4705-9500-4C74437002C2.jpg

    2. I got engaged 30A88928-9111-4696-98DA-E80A48174D7C.jpg

Not really but could you imagine

I’m still battling the random voltage surges, it didn’t happen at all today but happened two days ago again. Battery and Alternator both tested good but I wouldn’t think an alternator that just randomly surges would test bad to start with. Gonna keep an eye on it for now.
