bald tires at 23,000 miles?!? what do i do?

ok so i have 23,000 miles on my stock tires.. they are bald pretty much.. that doesnt seem right at all!!! what do i do? call the manufacturer and complain? can i get free tires? what do i do guys?

 

Buy new tires..The stock tires are garbage.

23k sounds very reasonable to me. That is about what I would have got from mine...but luckily I changed them out at 15k (about 1/3 tread left). The best thing you can do for your truck is to get rid of those junk OE tires.

 

Toyota does not warranty tires. Your warranty cards says to call whoever made your tires.

 

The dealer told me I'd be lucky to get 30k out of the stock tires. I don't care, like everyone says, they are junk anyway.
If they wore evenly I would just buy some better ones. If they wore unevenly, find out why, correct it, then buy some better ones.

 

13K miles out of my dunlops 5 years ago. I think you were darn lucky. Besides, the Dunlop tires Toyota uses are know for wearing out really fast. If you think they should last longer, just take a look at the run-flat tires the AWD Sienna was running. I think the average on those was 11K or 12K miles (thus the reason for the class action lawsuit on the Sienna's tires). All our previous OEM tires wore out within 20K miles. It's just a fact of life and a means for them to save money on getting new vehicles out the door.

 

are you doing burn outs ? i have the same tires and have over 48,000 on them.
i will replace them in a few months but, that is crazy that i have twice as many
miles.

 

My stock Dunlop 245's are still OK with 30,000 on them. I want them to wear out so I can put some nice 265's on, but they look like they have at least 15 or 20K left in them. I just can't justify getting rid of them before they wear out.

 

Its just the cheap tires they put on them. I had the same issue with Hondas. 20k and worn under normal driving conditions. Its absurd for the amount of money we pay for new cars.

 

There's been a lot of talk on the variation in the miles we get out of OEM tires. Others and I have wondered if maybe it's due to variations in compounds or even different manufacturing plants. There are a lot of people that get a low number of miles out of Toyota's OEM tires. Personally, I think they use a softer rubber compound which causes fast wear for those of us putting on a lot of highway miles in 90+ to 100+ degree temps over the summer. OEM tires are the ONLY tires I get low miles out of.

 

Same here, probably have another 10K at least left on mine, rounding out 30K now.

Bridgestone Dullers on my 2007 and has 39k on it....guessing I still have 10k or so left on the original tires....

 

I got 60k out of my tires... Def. doesn't sound right to me...

 

Damn, I hope mine hold up better than that. I can only compare it to my previous vehicle: OEM Michelin tires that held up 80k miles. I guess I can kiss that number goodbye with my OEM bridgestone duelers

 

I got 38k out of the stock 265 rugged trails, with the Toyo Open Country's I'm at 22k and pretty dissapointed with the Toyos, I hoped that at least 40k I could get from them, but looks like I'll be lucky to get 30 out of the Toyos, next ones may be Coopers
