On the pavement I agree. However many of us put on almost as many dirt road miles as pavement miles. And no i do not wear my seatbelt when I driving down a dirt road at less than 15 mph. Now if it's a bad stretch of trail or high speed dirt road, I will buckle up.

I respectfully disagree. If I'm driving pretty much anywhere over 30 feet in distance or 5 miles an hour, I'm wearing my seatbelt.

Thanks for being respectful. Disagreements are what make the world go round.

So your speed is 5 mine is 15. That does not make either of us wrong, just a different level of risk we are each willing to assume.

    ...stuff
Paramedic here too, I have pulled seatbelted dead bodies out... but it is definitely not the norm. Other factors caused it, I can say that seat belts definitely saved a lot of people on wrecks if pulled up to.

PS, for the 5mph vs 15mph debate... I just want to add that about 18mph is fatal. It doesn’t seem that fast, and vehicles have safety features to keep the occupants from absorbing all of that energy. Every safety feature built in to vehicles is counter acted by not wearing the seatbelt. It’s the primary piece for the occupants that allows the other features to be successful.

    Anyway, carry on everyone.

The only reason I want to disable it is to start the truck before putting my seatbelt on without hearing it ding at me. Seems even Carista can't turn this feature off.

Regards, all: Explained to the service manager that my Taco serves as farm truck, grocery getter and day trip transportation. When on the property I am in & out of the truck numerous times, the chime was worrisome.

When returned after service the lane change signal was modified and the manager explained their liability concerns. A printout of the "mechanics stackexchange" instructions was provided, the first line was "2017 Tacoma seat belt chime disable". The first five steps were detailed exactly as described in my first post. That evening I tried the technique and was successful on the second attempt.

The next morning the site was searched for the post (the printout gave only the .com address) and did a copy/paste for the referenced procedure.

There are legitimate reasons for the disable, gotta' presume everyone at TW is capable of making good decisions and able to assume responsibility for their actions.

Shickled ti,,, er, really happy to not have to listen to the chime with every in/out or reverse. Worked for me and not about to try to repeat the disable.

this is the one to get. i have had them for 2 years best way to kill the chime, i stacked the pair so the insert point is up higher easier to connect.

I actually like my seatbelt chime, annoys my passengers enough to put them on when they're too stupid to do it on their own.

Reminds me of driving in Disneyland’s parking lot. It has a speed limit of 11 or 9 or something weird.

My old townhome complex was 13mph. Infuriating. I can only assume that it's based off a calculations which takes into account building distance from the road, length of road, etc. It's un-American!!

To be fair, you gotta sell all of those traffic signs with 13 mph on them too. Someone made them. Job security.

Some of my companies Mines will have posted limits of things like 5 1/2 Or 25 1/2. It is designed to make people do a double take and look twice to actually read the sign.
